It may be sleety wet snow here now but it's settling on all surfaces except the road.

You are under those heavier echoes on the radar I suspect.  That is our only chance of the snow line lowering when evaporative cooling comes into play etc.

No danger of any heavy stuff visiting South Yorkshire any time soon though!  In fact it looks like drying up completely for now?!

Yes the dewpoint is creeping up but worth noting should any heavier stuff reach here later it would likely force the snow parameters more in our favour.

All very marginal though

Current (full) snow line looks to be about 250m or so? Here in Grenoside we're at 220m and it's sleet/wet snow and very light.

Yeah, I'll wait to see if that heavier stuff to the NE slides over us, and see what happens.

Shame it didn't come off for us all as planned, even Paul Hudson said some snow to lower ground in the forecast but it hasn't happened this time

Some heavy wet snow here in Malton. The first settling snow we’ve had but so far only giving a dusting. Temp 0.4c, dew 0.1c.

Gradually seems to be settling a bit more on spots it hasn't done so far and temp is coming down too, 0.5c with moderate snow.

Looks like that large blob on the radar has moved too far west for me

Ah well, it was good while it lasted

Yeah a fairly disappointing event thus far. A very thin covering on the ground and currently have light rain/drizzle by the looks. Currently looking at the lump the NE of us but it kinda looks like it might miss us in Barnsley. And it's moving incredibly slowly.

The heavier stuff is moving virtually East to West!  Hardly any North to South movement at all?  It is slow moving though so somewhere might get a pasting if the conditions are favourable?

Looks quite wintry around the Harrogate area.....

I was just thinking this whole system hasnt behaved as forecast at all. Was supposed to be North to South but is very much going west.

I'm sure that's what's done us in as it's meant the NE wind has brought the high dew points back in off the sea that have plagued is all through this spell

Snow in Crossgates is very localised, I must be on the southern edge of it as literally 3 mins down the road there is zero lying snow.

None of the roads have been gritted...

As I'm an essential worker, I'm out and about. No sign of snow, though it is snowing tiny flakes in Stourton.

Not a flake of snow all winter so far in Bridlington. Had some hail and sleet though.

Can see the snow band to the north of here right now and there was even a rainbow about 08.30.

Muat be something in Scarborough right now ?

Most disappointing failure yet! - I thought 200m would have been enough but sadly not and the last chance of snow from the current cold spell appears to be moving north of Sheffield

Shows how tricky it is to forecast snow even a few hours before the event. Anything on the marginal side and neither the models nor forecasters have the slightest idea which side it will fall on. At least most of us have seen a covering at some point over the past 2 weeks unlike further south.

Patiently waiting for the sink southwards

Walking the dog above Bingley. First Picture is 210m, you can see the snowline in the distance. Probably about 190m. Reservoir is at 245m with no problems settling here. Moderate to heavy as I type.
