Great afternoon here, still coming now but slightly more sleety, not too bothered because I've had my fun, even been sledging for old times sake❄️

Yup slizzle here turning back t snow in the heavier bursts. Lower down more rain and sleet right than snow right  now.

Showers need to eat some weetabix if what we've got is going to be still there tomorrow morning.

Some heavier showers moving inland to our North East now but I suspect things will be a little marginal for any further settling snow this evening?

0.8c here with dew point of 0.6, so just tipped wrong side of marginal here I think.

If we get some more heavy stuff it may get overridden, but at the moment there is a very very slow thaw

Yes elevation comes in .Still following the disturbance from Filey as it comes through south York at present as it could gain intensity the further inland it moves.

Down here in East Dene the thaw is a bit more than very slow, I think I'll be getting up in morning to no Snow cover.

Snow on and off for much of the day here but it never settled.

The outlook is very cold so hopefully more snow opportunities to come. After the rubbish past couple of winters, it’s nice to have some proper wintry weather.

Just had a sleety shower . So frustrating, thought it was supposed to be getting colder after yesterday's mild blip . I'd quite like skies to clear now, get those temperatures back down. Snow's melting faster now than it was before the sun went down. Gotta love a British winter

Currently 850hpa about - 5ish.  So anything falling now will mostly be rain until about 2/3am when they drop to about - 6/7 again as the wind turns easterly. We currently in a warmer flow than earlier today.in a warmer pocket look at Yorkshire region on gfs 12z chart

Thanks for the explanation. Good to know the reasoning behind these things
