The snow should be hitting the North York Moors right now , but will then head SW into North Yorkshire ( missing E Yorkshire ).

The direction then changes as we pick up showers with more of an Easterly component later ( rain / sleet at coast , snow showers inland ) i suspect.

poor Hull misses out again this time !

Look further NE though James. That cluster still out at sea heading on a straight south trajectory, expecting this to clip eastern areas in the next couple of hours.

im hoping you are right Andy , but some of those heavy showers still seem to be heading more South East at the moment whereas the band to the North is travelling South West. Im hoping snow showers just materialise from the coast like they did over Durham and Northumberland 2 hours ago

Weird how those showers just hit land and popped out of nowhere. Why couldn’t that of happened here haha

Love it when snow just develops in situ. I’m guessing it is being caused by slightly milder, moisture laden air running into colder air over land. I’m hopeful we’ll get some snow within the next couple of hours. Surface conditions look good too. Currently -2c and no rise yet.

Just had a wee dusting here from a light snow shower that seem to pop out of nowhere.

Aah I think Scunthorpe is going to miss the feature moving down again! Hope though to see some this week! I’ve been viewing this forum for about 15 years, my New Years resolution is to actually start trying to understand the charts this year!

Those showers certainly out of the blue intensity wise. Plenty of stuff kicking around this morning and still seems to be developing. A day for the radar watchers. Current conditions in Sheffield north -2.4 and dew of -4. Good luck snow hunting!

Hopefully it makes it across all of us! Another few cm would be lovely today. Then more top-ups from showers and troughs this week please....

.... I'm not greedy ❄️

All very possible.

I have heard on the grapevine the milder maritime air is now forecast into east Sheffield later though so dont be surprised if we dont see snow later when the wind shifts
