UKV for Thursday night (S Wales 2-4cm) - (Pembrokeshire 10cm)

UKV Saturday - rain to South West and on land below 100m, 5-10cm elsewhere:

Think thursdays  settling snow is crucial to saturdays  as if we see 2 to 4 cm widely thursday night friday morning  this could bring 2m temperatures down a degree or two to land Saturday on the right side of marginal for many areas. Seen this on the 24th jan ..3 to 4 degrees was forecast as the high that day ..but once the snow was on the ground max temperature went to 1 degree at the last minute.......its not the be all and end all but in very marginal set ups can swing the balance

Latest ICON not making as much of Thursday/Friday's front on the 06z run - Mostly pembrokeshire:

GFS and ECM have it reaching us but very light and patchy. UKV still looks good from what has been posted here. So still very uncertain for the end of this week.

The pressure looks too high unfortunately so it looks to be fizzling out before it gets here

Maybe they'll put a warning out for 2-5cm if not they obviously think it'll be a dusting at best.

I don't think they'll put out any warnings today, they normally do it before 11am

... If that's anywhere near true... I'm off to CCF  to get more gas cylinders so I can defrost frozen pipes again. Last snowed in March 2018.

Its bitterly cold, still frozen here, been putting balls on the cattle water troughs to stop them freezing.. So unusual.

Pictures from our last freeze in 2018.

Unlikely any warnings will be issued for us just yet, more than likely a day before the event (if any) - Unless things change in favour of more widespread precipitation /accumilations.

Showers developed over the sea probably the moisture and the cold easterly wind. Looks like staying offshore

The last few sentences were "potential" for it to get wet but uncertainty on whether the mild will win or the cold so there's potential for snow as well so something to keep an eye on

In other words they haven't got a clue whats going to happen at the moment

Apologies for crossing the border.

Just seen that forecast.  It's worth pointing out that, whilst presenting the quoted shot, the presenter stressed a lot of uncertainty and used the word "potential" many times, as to whether it would be wet or wintry.

It has been rather disappointing so far for South Wales and SW England though.  So much promise earlier in the week as suddenly all but evaporated.  Let's hope for a miracle u turn soon and some notably snowy charts start appearing for our areas.

Sunday before last they backtracked last minute to forecast snow, maybe this will happen again.

Not looking as good for us to get a snowy breaking today. Thursday/Friday looking less likely the front will make it to us, or if it does very light and patchy. When I looked in the mad thread earlier looks like its also changed to the mild coming in the weekend but sadly more as rain then any nice snowy breakdown.

Will be disappointing if it does happen this way and I don't get to see a proper snowfall this winter!

Few grains blowing about at the moment in the wind here and there in Barry.

Possibly something more organised as we start to get more of an easterly wind for parts of South Wales. Hoping the B.Channel can add some moisture to the flow

Anyone under that relatively "heavy" shower in Porthcawl area? Gower area could have some decent showers in the next hour or so too. They also look to be clipping South Pembrokeshire coast.

Some moisture building in channel east of Cardiff also. Light flurries just started here again.

That's definitely heading towards south Wales, whether it can maintain/increase intensity is the question.

Would you say it's all over for Thursday night now?
