Another Polar vortex split. 2 in fact .Expect more chaos on models as colder conditions will spread across Europe and North America.

Quick question...how well do people think last weekends snow was forecast by the TV forecasts in terms of depth and areas affected?

I am in no way trying to imply that they had it wrong or anything like that it's just more out of curiosity

I am in llansamlet and the flakes on that shower were huge. Hope we get some more snow events this winter.

Could be some fairly hefty snow around for lots of us in Wales Sunday....hopefully the turn to rain keeps getting pushed back too

Looks pretty grim for us in the south west, going to be a soggy week.

Can't see it myself. Even if it does snow it'll be replaced by rain soon after.

UKV Extended is going for some leading edge snow on Sunday morning, before turning to rain. If we could just slow down the speed the front moves through and get some more colder air in, then it will be game on. One to watch!

It’s quite the tease but in reality (at the moment) you’d have to take a lot of the white colours away and more blue maybe leave a bit for the beacons Snowdonia and the black mountains heads of the valleys

Let's see what happens same temperatures  as last weekend dew points driven down by heavier precipitation. Watch what happens in February zonal reversal from the3rd onwards as NEasterly becomes established.

I think any snow this weekend will be a higher ground event. Costal areas along the south and west i feel will just see rain from this.  Just a gut feeling though!

BBC showing snow for us now too.

Snow - sleet - rain for me still but you never know! Sure ICON was predicting 40cm + for the midlands for Thursday so would say it's probably only worth looking at that a couple of days out. But with GFS (snow to rain) and GEM (more like ICON) on board, definitely possible!
