I always thought it was going to be marginal this week. According to yesterdays met forecast it was a dry day and night but ended up with a covering. Compare the met and BBC forecasts and look out of the window and you can get three different outlooks.

Its next weekend that its all supposed to happen

Cold until the weekend with no snow, milder next week going by the latest weather on BBC.

Best to take it all with a pinch of salt/grit at the moment...effects of the ssw could go either way..it may plunge us into narnia or it may lead to milder conditions ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️

And the UK following above

Saturday 9 Jan - Monday 18 Jan

Showers will affect the southeast initially on Saturday with light rain and hill snow moving into northern Scotland through the day, but most areas should stay dry with some sunny spells as any patchy freezing fog slowly clears. Confidence is low from here on, but a shift to more unsettled conditions is likely through Sunday and into next week as high pressure moves to the southwest of the UK and allows periods of wetter and at times milder weather to move in. Intermittent periods of rainfall and strong winds are expected, especially in the north of the country, though colder spells are likely between these. Southern areas will see more settled conditions, staying drier, clearer and calmer. Temperatures will probably be slightly below average overall, with frosts possible in places.

Covers all bases so they haven't really got a clue

There's a couple of people next door and they're part of the Mormon community, one from Canada and another from the US. The Canadian was explaining the blizzard they had years ago when the snow was higher than the cars lol and that this weather isn't even cold to him.

Absolutely freezing tonight. Definitely feels the coldest it's been, but the wind chill could be a factor. It's not particularly windy, but as you say, there's definitely a nip.

I think surprises aplenty over the next few weeks...If you have studied the mod thread today then compared to yesterday most of the toys have been put back in the pram and they are playing nicely again so I always take that as a sign that things are heading the right way again

Interesting fax chart coming out Wednesday. There's a cink  the front forming on the front  reinvigorating it .Lots of snow over Wales possible Friday. With -10 Uppers and with North Atlantic cooling down fast nothing marginal in this event. Last week we were unlucky Iceland was +3 so we had not cold air to draw on,Friday temp in Iceland -4.c day time max.
