Just had a jump into the Wales thread to look at your reports.

Funny you say that about the MOD thread, there is literally nothing to be depressed about

Light snow here for the last 20 minutes or so.  Temperature at 0° here in the village.. felt a lot colder up on the mountain with the dog.  Little to no breeze.  BBC weather has us down for heavy snow later on.. won't hold my breath though.

Really confused by the mod thread....one quote saying we need to make of the next 2 weeks as that will be it....is it just a case of the effects ssw on the models at the moment?

nobody quite knows how the ssw will effect the uk weather although some are programing the usual reversal of wind/weather direction from east to west - right now i'd say all we know for sure is the easterly we are gonna get this coming week after that it's anybody's guess as to where we go next - apparently while this ssw gets established - model output may well end up all over the shop - so advice is not to dwell on various outcomes just yet in far FI land - meto have us down for slightly less colder weather into the middle of the month then back into the cold, much colder with snow latter part of jan - make of that what you will!

Personally I cannot see a warm spell another stratospheric warming over Northern Russia on the 12th of January should force bitter cold across Europe bitter cold forced across europe.A note what a waste streamers setting up.

Definitely a bit of sleet in these heavier bursts coming in now uppers must be cooling behind the cold front that went through earlier

Seems a bit of a streamer has set up in the Irish sea and is targeting a line between Cardigan and Carmarthen.

Its falling as sleet and light hail here with a few snow flakes included, but if it continues this afternoon perhaps falling temperatures will allow some more snow.  Would be nice to get some in Pembrokeshire as we’ve been left out up till now!

Looks like a nice area of snow , and expanding, going into Abergavenny and heading South - Blaenavon - Pontypool - Newport ,
Another fairly sizeable snow shower ready to hit monmouthshire

Had a bit of sleety rain today, mostly rain. Still got my fingers crossed to see some snow this cold spell!

Been watching these for a few hours. As soon as they get to around Hereford they begin to veer south east. Just as conditions seem ripe for snow the chunk of snow currently over mid-north Wales looks like it's decaying a bit and will also take that NW-SE track at the last minute.

Will have to wait for some fun next week
