ECM at t216 is infinitely better than the GFS!:santa-emoji:

Well the GFS 12z was pretty dreadful, in comparison to its earlier runs.  However, the ECM is far from dreadful at 216

Those uppers are cold enough, particularly further north

It’s pretty flimsy, cold enough though. Would be a nice seasonal Christmas Day.

Can’t see the ridge ending anywhere but over us though, there’s not enough low heights over Europe to stop it toppling

Yes, the handling of that low seems to lead to different routes and the ecm does follow the gfs 06z rather than the 12z by t192:

Hopefully ecm is just not 6h behind the cycle and that this is the route? gefs trend more this way than the gfs 12z thankfully!

That trough in the Atlantic is disrupting against the block at 216,and it should go under.

Edit: and it does...

Uppers are nothing to be sniffed at, not deep cold but let's say 'seasonal'!

I will be very surprised if day 10 isn't a cold outlier..... please don't be a cold outlier

I had a feeling it could become a cut off high what’s important that piece of vortex goes east not northeast it aids in squeeze of heights north.

Gonna make the most of this ECM run until the pub run inevitably throws out some fierce south-westerlies later.:drunk-emoji:
