My vague February prediction of cooler, drier and cloudier was mostly correct for London. Max of 8.7c was below average but the mean of 6.1c was slightly above.

The rest of the year...

March: Warmer, drier and sunnier than average

April: average all round

May: well above average temps, dry and sunny

June: warmer, wetter, average sun

July: well above average temps, wet, sunny

August: above average temps, very dry and sunny

September: above average temps, wet and cloudy

October: average temps, wet and cloudy

November: below average temps, wet and cloudy

December: below average temps, dry and sunny

Rest of year....

April 2021 - Very unsettled with a succession of vicious Lows and ‘April Showers on Steroids’ Generally cool but a warm incursion mid to late month. 8.6.C

May 2021 - More settled and  a lot of sunshine, however some very chilly nights and unseasonal hard frost. 11.6.C

June 2021 - A really decent sunny start to meteorological Summer with above average temperatures, however the weather will really lose it towards the end of the month with some really unseasonable cold coming off the North Sea. 14.0.C, but a near record breaking start demeliorating later.

July 2021- Summer on hold initially with a run of wet weather and sub par temperatures however improving steadily but nothing to write home about. 15.5.C

August 2021- A very average start giving way to a 2 week long heatwave before turning a bit autumnal. 17.6.C

September 2021 - Classic Indian Summer September with very sunny and surprisingly warm weather, only falling short of record CET levels due to cooler nights. 16.0.C

October 2021- A real ragbag of weather with a bit of everything and a somewhat freakish spell of snow mid month. Overall theme rather cool. 8.9.C

November 2021 - In contrast to October, rather drab, foggy and settled but not particularly cool. Incredibly warmer than October. 9.0.C

December 2021 - Way milder than average at first but a sharp transition just before Christmas with a White one widely. 6.6.C

My predictions for the rest of the year are as follows...

April: A fairly average month on the whole in terms of temps and rainfall, though sunshine will be above average in a few places. A short warm spell for all around the middle of the month.

May:  A little below average month. The first half of the month will be sunny but cool for the time of year perhaps with a few frosts at the beginning, and a few showers particularly during the first week. Second half of the month will see the first plume of the season.

June: A continuation of the warm settled weather seen during the second half of May. Becomes increasingly unsettled from the second week, but will become settled again around the equinox and temps will be around average for the time of year.

July: Average at best with a few particularly warm periods here and there. Rainfall will be a little below average but the month as a whole will be cloudy.

August: The hottest day of the year will be reached around the middle of month with a few thunderstorms here and there. But after that, the weather becomes unsettled with some cool nights at the end of the month.

September: The unsettled theme at the end of August continues into the first week of September. After this, an Indian Summer type weather takes place with temperatures reaching the low 20s in most places, possibly 25C down south. The last half of the month will be more autumnal and there will be some cool nights.

October: A very wet month with the first named storm of the season. Temperature wise, average to slightly above average.

November: This month will be fairly quiet and will see some cold crisp sunny days under the influence of high pressure late in the month. Rainfall and sunshine will be around average, and temperature will be a little below average.

December: Mostly mild and rainfall a little above average.

Unless I've missed it, nobody in this thread predicted 'dry, cold and nondescript' for April

Let's hope for some actual weather soon!

Yeah, it's okay if you get out of the breeze and have the sun on you. and at least it's getting a little milder than the first third of the month now! The Met's forecast for the weekend, although pleasant, has a bit too much green on the temperature shading map for my liking at this time of year!

Not going very well so far is it.

Very unsettled - Hmmmmmm

Vicious lows and April showers on steroids - Hmmmmmmm

Generally cool - That part you appear to be correct with so far

8.6C - So far up to the 17th we are at 5.7C. April temperatures so far are not that much milder than we got in February on average which came in at 5.1C. We were doing a lot better in March which came in at 7.2C

Seen this thread late and past halfway in April so I will start predicting the rest of the year from May.

May: Fairly warm and sunny in all areas, dry in the north but wet in the south. A cool first week with some heavy rain and strong winds. A very hot spell from the 12th-17th with maxima widely in the high 20’s and potentially 30.C in a few areas with some record breaking warm nights. Followed by a brief colder spell between the 20th-23rd before a warm and sunny final week with temperatures around the high teens or low 20’s.

June: A warm month in eastern areas but fairly average in the west a thundery month so rainfall very erratic, some places being very dry, others being very wet. A unremarkable start to the month with some dry, sunny days with some showery days mixed in and temperatures around the low 20’s in the east but slightly cooler further west. A plume develops midmonth bringing some very hot weather to all areas with some record breaking heat in Scotland. Followed by a thundery breakdown with some flash flooding in northern England and Scotland. The final week being like the start very average.

July: A dry, sunny and very anticyclonic month with average temperatues (maximum above average, minimum below average) dry everywhere with the driest weather in Wales and north west England. Two cool spells from the 15th-20th and 28-31st with some very cold nights and cool days but still Sunny and dry. The rest of the month having warm sunny days but also cool nights.

August: A cool start followed by a two week heatwave before a very wet, cool autumnal last week. A wet but warm month. Heatwave from the 7th-22nd bringing maximum temperatures of the high 20’s/low 30’s in the north and mid to high 30’s in the south. Potential temperature records broken once again. A massive countrywide thunderstorm on the 24th bringing some very high rainfall and flash flooding in a few areas before an extremely cool and wet end to a relatively good summer.

September: Cool first few days before high pressure builds bringing  spell from the 5th-16th of warm autumnal sunshine temperatures around the low-mid 20’s with only real warm weather in the far south east. First autumnal storm on the 20th with some strong winds but little rain and a very anticyclonic last week with some frosty nights in the north and cool days. A dry month.

October: Very cold first week but also one of the sunniest October weeks with some very sharp frosts country wide. Before a milder, wetter spell with some heavy rain and strong winds. High pressure builds from the 20th bringing a calmer end with temperatures around or slightly below average.

November: A generally mild month with cloudy days but with little rain. A cold front moves in on the 17th bringing some snow showers in the north with some very heavy snow from the 23rd-27th followed by a Scandinavian high bringing sub zero temperatures but also beautiful crisp sunshine. Potentially temperatures as low as -20.C.

December: A very cold start and finish with some very severe freezing fog. A very mild and dull spell in between similar to December 2015 with Scotland, northern England And Wales getting most of the rain.

My updated prediction for the rest of the year.

May: below average temps every day for the first 3 weeks of the month. The final week consists of unbroken sunshine with temps of 25-30c.

June: warm, dry and sunny conditions dominate, with the occasional thunderstorm. A heatwave around the solstice brings the warmest day of the year, with 33-34c widespread.

July: average temperatures and sunshine, but very wet with numerous thunderstorm outbreaks throughout the month. 32c reached early in the month.

August: the first half of the month is cool, cloudy and wet with temperatures struggling around the 20-22c mark. The second half of the month is very sunny and bone dry, with many days approaching 30c.

September: a very warm, sunny and dry month with barely a drop of rain. The last very warm day of the year with 28c recorded.

October: a traditional October with a mixture of warm sunny days and cool, wet/windy days.

November: cool, but dry and sunny. Several frosts recorded.

December: average temperatures but very dry and sunny. The Christmas period is unusually mild, with temperatures into the mid-teens.

A colder start to the year. An average summer, with a warm sunny June, and early July, but a poor August overall.

Janaury : overall quite cold, with a mild middle, but a very cold snowy period between the new year and 10th, and a cold end.

Feb : quite average overall, with a cold start. Cloudier than usual, with the last few days dry cold and sunny.

March : Another dry month, but a cold one. A wet and windy spell mid month, and some springlike weather the last few days.

April : slightly warmer than average, with a warm sunny start, but with cold mornings and evenings. A cool damp wet spell mid month, with a thundery spell towards the end, as temps start to warm up.

May : a stinker month, and overall colder than average. It will be cloudier than normal, and the first two weeks will be very dull and cool. Temps will increases after the 15th, and a sunny warm spell with set in. It will turn hot before the end, with some widespread thunderstorms.

June : warm and sunny, with long warm and sometimes hot weather. 30c will be reached and topped a few times this month. London and the south east will have some very warm and humid nights, and it will be sunnier than normal.

July: good first half, poor second half, and more thunderstorms breaking out quite frequently. Average temps.

August: a warm sunny start, with some hot days, but after the 10th, more wet and cooler weather mixed with thunderstorms will dominate. Overall a slightly cooler than normal month.

September: a warm sunny month. After a mediocre summer, this will be the best month after June. Slightly warmer than average, and quite dry. Some cool nights in the second half.

October: mild and wet, with some cold dry sunny days.

November: very mild, wet and windy. Duller than normal.

December: a month of two halves, sunnier than normal, with a cold frosty first half, and a mild cloudy second half. A damp cloudy but dry Christmas period. 10-12c Christmas Day, so on the average to mild side.

Well you got May pretty much bang on!

July

A good summer's month, sunnier, drier and warmer than average akin to July 1999

Given earlier predictions, I'll take that

My predictions for 2021

January: Cold & blocked in the first-half, our severest spell of cold since 2018. Less cold second half but still seasonably chilly & wintry spells.

February: Very anticyclonic month with a fair share of frost & fog at times. Overall very sunny & dry, the driest since 2012.

March: Very wet but rather cool due to a southerly tracking jet stream, so some cold & snow returning. Very dull.

April: Quite non-descript. Quite a lot of low pressure & westerly winds bringing sunshine & April showers. Rather cool at times.

May: One of the wettest Mays on record, consequently rather dull & cool too.

June: A month of two halves; continuing cool, dull and unsettled but later turning warmer and drier. A hot end.

July: Hot start, but turning progressively cooler, like 2015. A very thundery month.

August: Thoroughly cool & unsettled with low pressure the dominant feature. Probably the “worst” August since 2014. Very dull & wet

September: Turning drier but rather chilly under high pressure at times, similar to 2015. Quite a sunny month but dry

October: Quite unsettled at times with temperatures close to average. Very standard October.

November: Similar to October, very cyclonic but with temperatures very close to average

December: A cold spell in the first half, then becoming anticyclonic & less cold.

The year as a whole: The coldest year since 2013, perhaps 2010, but unlikely. Close to the long term average but ending a run of warm years since 2014 & starting the trend of cooler years, akin to 2008. Very wet year, the wettest since 2012 & one of the wettest of the century so far. Dull too.

How would everyone feel about a year like that!?

May was spot on and June, while I got it the wrong way round, wasn’t too bad of a prediction either, though that depends on location. Living in the SE I can definitely say it was a month or two halves! The rest so far has been pretty poor, though perhaps August is following suit…

Very random predictions.. probably 0% success rate but here we go.

January - Relatively mild and changeable. Cooler conditions later on but nothing notable. CET 5.1C

February - Mild start, cooler end. Much drier than 2020. CET 4.3C

March - Cold with a lot of cloud and wet to the south of the country. CET 5.6C

April - Very wet with average temperatures, cool first half before a somewhat milder second half. CET 8.3C

May - Quite westerly with a fair bit of cloud and rain. Chance of some early warmth later on in the month. CET 10.5C

June - Fairly dry but often cloudy with mild nights. CET 13.9C

July - Warm and wet with numerous threats of downpours or storms. Winds from a southeasterly quarter. CET 17.8C

August - Changeable but nothing dramatic. CET 16.9C

September - Very warm September with summer heat near the beginning. Turning more autumnal later on but staying mild. CET 15.9C

October - Another really mild month with mainly unsettled conditions dominant. CET 12.7C

November - The mild autumn continues with a typical Atlantic driven November. CET 7.9C

December - Average temperatures and foggy at times later in the month after an unsettled start. CET 4.6C

I do hope many of these are wrong especially spring. After the exceptional spring of 2020, I just feel nature will punish us with either a very benign season or a really poor one. Haven't had a really poor one for a while either especially May.

May and July the best but the rest very poor and completely off.

I was correct for the first half of June at least. The 2nd half of that month was possibly the cloudiest 2 week period of any summer month ever.

Almost spot on for July, though it was cloudy.

First half of August has been cool, cloudy and wet. The 2nd half looks like it will be a bit warmer and drier, but remaining cloudy.

Hopefully my September prediction is accurate.

July

A good summer's month, sunnier, drier and warmer than average akin to July 1999

August

Not as good as July but still reasonable with the thundriest weather of the summer. Overall, a pretty decent summer akin to 1994, 1996

September

Dry, sunny month. some late summer warmth

October

Most unsettled month since April, wetter than average and a touch milder than average

November

Unsettled to a degree but with drier periods. Average temperatures

Definitely an upside-down summer for the UK this year. Down here in the south I'd say it was the poorest summer since 2012, following a pretty mediocre spring, with the wandering Biscay Low plaguing us so often early on and an exceptionally dull August with all our weather coming from the North Sea. Our best month by far was September, followed by a very benign autumn.
