Good to see some areas getting a bit of a top up today - while this was sort of on the radar (to pardon the pun, especially given the amount of false echoes I saw nearby to start with) it wasn't reall

England going into lockdown, UK going into freezer?

gfsnh-0-384.png?12

Still a way out but high pressure somewhere around the UK seems to be a recurring theme in the models.

Back in reality, wet and windy this morning, dry and very windy this afternoon. Plenty of leaves flying around so I suspect a lot of trees will have been stripped, which probably means the end of the lovely autumnal scenes recently.

Liked Scotland's scrappy victory over twenty years of defeats in Wales and loving Italy's resistance so far against England in the rugby. Big game still to come.

Temperature currently 10.0deg.C  down from a max of 13.7deg.C at 11:19, humidity 80%, wind around 10mph southeasterly with a max gust of 34mph so far, pressure 996.6hPa, and only 4.8mm of rain so far although I thought it would be more. Maybe horizontal rain doesn't hit the measuring cup.

Sadly, Italy's resistance has collapsed and the game's become very one-sided, would have preferred to see a battle from the Italians.

High of 13.8c, 16.5mm of horizontal rain but surprisingly, my weather station is only recording a top gust of 29.8 km/h and wind speed of 20.8 km/hr where as the two closest to me have both recorded gusts over 80km/hr. I might look into buying a 2nd anemometer and locating it in a different bit of the garden as the line of trees at the back of me might be providing too much protection even though they looked like they might suffer damage today.

Very windy here too with showery rain at times. A bit milder though. Currently 9.1C from a max of 13.1C this morning. Min was 4.5C in the early hours so quite a dramatic swing AM.

My wife is moaning about to much sport being on TV today. Not sure why as I have only watched the Wallabies v the All Blacks, Wales v  Scotland, Hearts v Hibs and currently France v Ireland. In between a wee bit of England v Italy and Liverpool v West Ham. I blame the weather.

The 60mph gusts in that squall took the cowling off my chimney. Grrr.

Tweed was busy all afternoon and flooded the valley:

Strange day. Weather has been all over the place. Very wet & windy but warm & windy as well. Managed to go for a walk while warm & windy. Went to Cathcart Cemetery for a walk as it is Halloween. Came across a tree consuming a gravestone. Seemed apt.

Casualties today. Two wheelie bins, bird feeder, trampoline, large tree, which landed on a BMW. Thankfully not ours.

Sadly, my resistance went the same way.

So victories for Scotland, England and France, I think, and a bit of a defeat for me this morning. Meanwhile on the weather front:-

Temperature currently 9.3deg.C up from a minimum of 6.6deg.C at midnight and down from a maximum of 10.6deg.C at 07:13, humidity is 82%, wind is highly variable maxing out at 19mph from the south, pressure is 989.5hPa rising quickly and 8.2mm of rain has fallen so far today. Right now it's dry and reasonably bright.

Not great outside, not much better inside, horrible in my head despite various hangover cures.

Temperature currently 7.4deg.C, humidity 93%, wind very light from the southeast, pressure 983.3hPa and 18.4mm of rain has fallen since midnight but dry at the moment. Oh, and it's dark, which I'm liking.

BFTE - esque cold pool with this one anim_nlx5.gifanim_qpn8.gif

I have so much to learn...I'm assuming this is looking good for cold weather in mid November? Is there potential for snow as a result?
