Great to see you getting that @LomondSnowstorm, one of the most teasing bits of radar watching and I got excited but should have looked at my dewpoint 1C ?‍♂️ Trying it’s best but sleet so far not sure it will drop enough

Cheers! It's incredibly marginal isn't it! During the lighter periods it's looked a bit sleety here too, with a bit of melt on the front of cars, but just the intensity and extra tiny bit of altitude/distance from the coast makes a huge difference.

Well... Santa has delivered, a few days late

Just went out to sample the conditions, and started with the first pic,

but halfway round the walk I took the second pic - That's more like it!

Just look at how far West these showers are pushing - madness,

Met Office went for an isolated shower reaching South Lanarkshire overnight!

This is heading straight for the Glasgow area - don’t be surprised to see a widespread dusting when you wake up!

@101_North I am off to charge my phone.

I’d be delighted if you’re right mate. I’d personally be surprised if we see anything other than rain here. Even if it is -1c here just now.

I was looking at that myself but I think it will lose its intensity before it gets here?

I am not bothered though, I am looking forward to what January will throw at us

Snawing in Leith too, nice to see. Quite an interesting situation this one, breaks the usual rule for round here about needing -10 uppers to counteract surface modification of anything coming in from the east and down the estuary. But no-wind out there just now, so this time, seemingly little modification by the sea just a couple of miles from here.

Today - or rather yesterday - was fun, splitting wood in the snow and with air temp at 0C. A cold sweat, you could say. And the inevitable fun with drivers of cars on summer tyres failing to appreciate that caution is needed.

Earlier this evening we had sleet that settled briefly on previously frozen slush and snow, and froze, so the pavement was lethal. But only for a short while as it started to rain and much of the frozen stuff is melting. More to come perhaps but beach snow is a rare thing these days.

I watched the BBC forecast just now (knickersniffer in full flow) and tbh it didn't really look much like what the models are showing except in the very broadest sense of 'colder than average and with some ppn'. Do they just wing it these days?

Yep haha!

I am not working until tomorrow evening so I will keep an eye on the radar over the next couple of hours and see what happens. Maybe some lamp post pics later if i am lucky.

@Glaswegianblizzard @Stormeh just noticed a sneaky Met Office automated update showing the heavy snow symbol for you both.

You know what that means now...rain!!!

Still looks good on the Netweather radar predictive track - wee while to go before it arrives! Hopefully the intensity remains.

I reckon you might just squeeze out enough of the last of the easterly flow to get a dusting in Glasgow before the northerly kicks in and the convection dies.

I think the best of it is over here, all seems to have shifted a bit to the west. Still a pretty decent covering so can't complain, and probably a couple of showers still to come judging by the radar, maybe some heavy. I'd really just take it not melting at this stage to be honest - the UKV looks reasonable enough for bringing a proper clearance of the low cloud around 3am and bringing an air frost.

18 z some differences but my thoughts for tomorrow, showers likely to be developing pretty early in the morning with an area of CAPE in the North Sea aiding them, 850 hpa of around -2 to -4 (remember that was the same as the snow at the start of December here) temperatures not much off freezing and well in the sub 528 dam, the only reason I think the precip will vary is the dewpoints with an area of say +2/3 in the North Sea normally we would be looking for lowering dewpoints from there moving in (that might not be far off as mentioned earlier with the model outlooks over the next week or so) but I will have a little gamble and say that Fife has the chance to be a sweet spot for a couple of cms by the end of the day maybe @Big Innes Madori and @Blitzen we shall see hail, sleet, snow and don’t rule out a few rumbles of thunder should be a good chance of convective cloudscapes for photos. image.thumb.gif.2a337044dba025a79f386d29506e0c75.gifimage.thumb.gif.97d36c254ef1dd1ae7ddcf8e6e028007.gif image.thumb.gif.1b76f8ccc49ee7e7da2d101916a96731.gifimage.thumb.gif.126f41e4628335bcd671a14909870e0a.gifimage.thumb.gif.a32e34d3c316e6955e97c1d0c3fb5adf.gifimage.thumb.gif.4b517c643940b0a000e101498bbe6303.gif

Overall pretty happy with that admit I wrote it off a bit quick earlier (I’m not patient when it comes to snow ) lovely seeing the snow pics and again shows that the really low 850 temps aren’t always needed for some snowy surprises.

Got heavier here the last 5-10 minutes and all very white out there. Not going to be enough to stick a ruler in it, but even if it totals 5mm it'd still be enough to make this place look pretty seasonal today (fingers crossed)

Lovely snow fall with a bit more to come according to the radar.

The kids might be able to get their sledges out tomorrow if it continues like this for a bit longer.

Great to see some Fifers get snow as well as the Perth contingent.  Just damp here in Pittenweem as you would expect.

Heavier ppn still to reach us. Fingers crossed. Would settle for a seasonal view from the 'office' window tomorrow!

That new house is a snow magnet! Do you have any for sale? @Mair Snaw might be interested!

I am sitting here glued to the radar - the wee triangle is my house.

Staying up hoping to see a couple of snowflakes - no chance for me this far West but it has got to be done.

I thought you were charging that?

So far the move of 300m along the road is paying off in snow terms
