Wis thinking how rubbish it is for Scotland tae hae aw this rain for Hogmanay.

Then looked at the radar and realised it's pretty much jist us!

Anyway, had a dusting this morning but friends a bit higher up near soutra did well.

Happy Hogmanay tae aebody when it comes!

Oh and these are lovely. Drone lightshow for Hogmanay.

I understand it was supposed to be over Edinburgh for the street party, but due to covid cancellation and to stop crowds gathering to watch etc, it had to be done over a remote highland location then superimposed.

May spring bring better times!

TO EVERYONE ON THE SCOTTISH THREAD AND THE WIDER NETWEATHER COMMUNITY:

It is with a heavy heart (and current circumstances) that I feel unable to wish anyone a 'Happy New Year' this year.   I am however wishing all of you a safe and peaceful new year.  Please accept my heartfelt kindest regards to you all and very best wishes for 2021.

Blitzen.

Gees I dread to think what’s behind this. Stay safe and keep your family close.

A Guid New Year when it comes to ane an a on the Kilted thread and may 2021 be a vast improvement on the 'sub-optimal' 2020 for everyone.

Here's to a cauld and snawy January - and February... ❄️❄️

Today started with so much promise but with the rain and a significant thaw, the snow is all but gone. Sums up 2020 really.

A few socially distanced drinks this evening in the street with the neighbours, in the cold and the slush. Now on the sofa with the fire on for a very quiet Hogmanay.

A good new year to everyone. Here’s to 2021.

Dismal day's weather to match the end of a dismal year.

Heavy showers of rain on and off all day, light winds and a max of 5c.

Skies actually cleared a bit around lunchtime..

Ground conditions though a bit soggy...

Plenty signs of spring in the garden though...

Following on from traditions I was brought up with, both front and back doors will be opened just before midnight to let the old year out and herald in the new year. Wishing all on the Kilted thread (and even in Canada and the rest of Netweather's forums) a healthy and peaceful New Year and hopefully plenty of sna in the not too distant future.

Slàinte Mhath!

Snow disappearing quickly from the Black Isle today although above about 150m (and inland) some good bits still white.  The older folks appreciated a milder day to get out and about.

Yesterday I got out for a short walk a bit further west and was totally overwhelmed in a wet splattery blizzard! 558469740_scatwellpine.thumb.jpg.2709996406e33458bc1b6b6e8dc35042.jpg

All the best for 2021! Can't be any worse really can it?  Independence now!!

Is the GFS still up to its old tricks of constantly promising serious cold, but always a week away? Useful.

Greetings and a Guid New Year tae a' oan the kilted Thread! May 2021 bring us buckets o' snaw and clear frosty days! For the first time in over 50 years I didn't stay up to see the New Year  in. Since my visitors are confined to barracks for the foreseeable future I didn't see any point in staying up. Will be heading out later to my extended household friend for dinner and drinks and hopefully a doggie walk if the weather stays dry. Hope you all have a grand day and I look forward to more excited comments on here as the promise of snaw is fulfilled!

I tried but fell asleep on the sofa at 11:45. I don't think I've ever felt so old, clearly I am inexorably morphing into my dad

Still, wishing everyone on here a better 2021 than 2020 and here's hoping this lovely seasonal weather continues for as long as possible. In the absence of travel it's the only thing keeping me sane just now. Well, that and this wonderful forum of course!! Nice and grounding

Stay safe and healthy, folks!

Happy New Year!

I was going to say, let's hope that this year is dominated by weather stories rather than viruses and deaths, but not all weather stories are good so maybe we should be cautious about that.

At least the new year has started dryer than the last year ended. Temp currently 2. 3/1.3C, not much of a breeze but a few showers heading in from the North so 3mm of rain through the early hours. Let's see what the next week brings, it's certainly not going to feel warm that's for sure.
