Back to the mild and clag after the brief chill of yesterday. Had a little rain but not too much

-2C this morning with a frost, and still some of the snow dusting surviving in places, so can I count yesterday as a 'snow day'? By the time I got home at around 4:30pm it was back up to 10C. As others have said, the period between was cloudy, grey and utterly unappealing.

Much the same old bean, mine's out of a tall brown bottle from Chile...

We were up Glen Strathfarrer 4 weekends ago and the colours on the trees were really good. First autumn for a few years when the leaves hadn't been shredded before developing their full colours.

         

There was a gale a few days later.... and it's been a bit breezy out this evening, although easing off now.

Pretty raw out and the day started pretty rotten with rain. Decided to join in with Shuggee‘s frost club this year and try keep count, I realise the first rule of frost club is “do not talk about frost club” but yesterday was our 15th

5c here this morning and sunny.From  a non scientific point of view it seems we are slowly cooling down towards a level where more wintry precipitation is likely ,the tops of the mountains to receive snow showers for the next week .Growth is slowing too and the wildlife is stocking up on feed in stubble fields with 12 Whooper Swans feeding in a neighbouring field along with thousands of geese. It certainly feels like winter with some strong winds on these cooler days.  The added effect of low light as well makes it look just  pre winter.

Currently 7C here...blue sky one minute...heavy shower the next! 

Looking forward not much excitement from a wintry perspective - lowland snowfall wise.

Much better for Wednesday and Thursday with sunshine, chilly days and cold/frosty nights.

Next week, briefly higher temperatures on Monday, then most higher mountains of Britain likely to drop back below freezing for several days ahead. Precipitation remaining frequent throughout next week, focused on western mountains - sometimes snow or hail. Confidence of forecast detail becomes low later in the week, with some hints of higher pressure, but many indications staying unsettled.

On that note I am off to apply for an Elf job at Santa Claus village in Rovaniemi, Lapland.

I had a CT Scan this morning at the regional hospital that meant getting up at 08:30. On a Sunday! Nice trip though as the sun was out and there was only the odd spit spot of rain. But Chilly. The hospital seemed almost empty, my appointment was on time and I was in and out again in fifteen minutes. Result!

Temperature 6.2deg.C up from a minimum of 3.8deg.C at 07:27, humidity is 90%, wind is very light southeasterly, pressure is 1023.4hPa, there's been 0.8mm of rain since midnight and 5mm in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is 3/8.

I got a glut of damsons this year and made wine.  40 bottles of it - the catch is that it takes a year to lose the tannin edge and become drinkable! Aaaargh.
