Proper snow here, no sign of thawing either. Got nothing against Frome, my daughter lives there, but you can keep your mild wedge thank you.

Nooo I don’t want the mild wedgie!!!

A bit sleety now.

But this does make me feel more optimistic for snow chances over the next few weeks as I don't think this was forecasted. ☃️

The precipitation was forecast but as a mix of rain/sleet/snow and being confined to the hills, I’m only 90mtrs above sea level!!

Light snow falling here garden looks crispy .   Squirrels are brave enough to run around looking for their nuts think it might take a pick axe to dig them up.

I see that the transport wind is low, meaning ventilation is poor. Not surprised that the air quality is bad outside.

Just risen to 0.1c here and while I am writing it just tuned to 0.2c
Still very cloudy.
A few of the forecasts are showing spells of sleet and snow for us late afternoon, here is hoping.

Decent snow falling and settling on some surfaces but others have had frost melt and snow melting too despite it being -0.2c .

And this is a classic example of the microclimate I was talking about the other day. Normally here in Frome we are quite lucky and often on the good side of the marginal and I've had snow when others have had sleet and rain before but today is a different kettle of fish.

at the moment it's raining here with the odd spot of sleet whereas 7 miles away in Warminster it's snowing heavily and settling on the cars as you mention .
I think Warminster is even lower down than we are here and yet we have rain you have snow which I think because we all border the Mendips various winds and local microclimates really come into play

incredible weather for its complexities and localisations but well done to all of those getting snow really great to hear that it is cold enough for some . Hope you all get enough to have some fun in it if you can.

Still snowing here, albeit tiny flakes. At this rate I think it would take until Easter to have enough for a snowman.

Just had a look at the radar and noticed there are some quite beefy showers coming off the North Sea working their way in land north east to south west direction does anyone think there's a chance some of those good make it all the way down here keeping that intensity or even increasing?

We might even see a flake in Exeter ... frost disappeared within 10 mins as soon as snow is close ... amazing

Unusual to see sleep in the north and snow further south

By far the lowest temperature of the winter last night and probably the lowest for at least the last couple of years with it dropping to -4.2°C. Mostly cloudy now with frost still on the ground. 0.1°C

So the new year starts with light rain falling at -1C. Hopefully not a sign of more hopeless cold spells to come.

Wouldve rather it stay dry and this mornings deep frost linger all day.

Great to hear reports of snow falling from some of you, don't think any was forecast, just drizzle/rain here.

Believe the 850hpa temperatures are around -2 to -4'c, so understandable why we are witnessing rain/sleet rather than snow for most areas. This is the sort of time when altitude is vitally important for snow/settling snow. By tomorrow 850hpa temps should remain lower than -6'c for a long while so snow opportunities will improve!
