Still a fair way above freezing here but it's dropping very quickly now so it should drop below freezing much earlier than the last few nights. Still frost in spots that were in the shade which you don't see that often here. 1.3°C

Ansum bit of snow down here in Costa Del Falmouth. Coming down a treat and especially good up at carnon Downs on me way home from work.

Some impressive mins likely across South Wales and Southwest England.

You can easily go lower than those in some favoured spots.

*Note to self* Avoid walking on the decking later when out for a fag.

It's definitely rare to see indeed Cornwall is quite cold!

First day in a while that the frost has not cleared from roofs and cars in the shade, and I mean in a while, even with a day time max temp of 5.3°C at: 13:16.

Now the sun has dropped and it is clear (so far) let's watch the temperature drop, currently 0.6°C ...bring it on..

A pretty perfect winters day minus the snow. High of 1.7C and back below freezing again so a lot of this mornings frost has remained all day. That makes today the coldest day of the year. How fitting.

Cor stone the crows, when I last commented it was 13 mins ago and 0.6°C, now we are down to 0.2°C, if stays clear could be a nippy start to the New Year..

Cool science lessons in the garden with thick ice in my son’s play truck and wheelbarrow. Ice prised out and thrown/shattered on the patio then trampled into pieces.

Earlier we had steam rising which he hadn’t seen before either.

Who needs snow!

Have you got any bubble mixture? With a frost like we had this morning, if you blow bubbles, they'll freeze in the air and look amazing. May have to get down close to the ground for full impact.

As it turns out it is going to drop below freezing much earlier that last night as it's already done so. Currently -0.3°C

Hilarious you should mention that because we did bubbles too and most of them landed and didn’t pop!

Was it cold enough to make them freeze?

Just needed any kind of precipitation today, cold enough all day for snow. On the Isle of Wight, But you guessed it! Anybody seen anything about tomorrow? I’m guessing if there was showers about it would be rain.

Yes! So cool.

Did anyone see the shooting star to the South 5 minutes ago? We were watching the space station and it whizzed across the sky!!

Frantically looking for some bubbles now!  Just asked kids if they had any hidden anywhere my eldest disappeared  upstairs and came back with a bottle of presecco .  Thank you not quite what I was looking for but it will do.

That's a classic   Just mix some washing up liquid with water, shampoo works too. Use anything you like to dip and blow through, just needs to be smooth surface.
