Looks like we may have a couple more "troughs" of showers heading down from the northern direction as we go into the overnight period;

Nocturnal cooling might just sway it for those of us a bit lower down this time.  I'm sure Birdlip will look wintry though.

Can’t be any worse than the cold rain most of us have experienced this afternoon.

Running through the frames on the radar, the bottom trough appears to be intensifying as it gets closer.

I reckon you’re right! Snowed heavily at Haresfield Beacon late morning, topped up a surprising covering left from yesterday. The slight dusting in my garden in Stroud is refusing to melt, so even just a few heavy showers later could be good...

We had a good snow shower this afternoon enough to give a dusting

This should land as snow as temp/dewpoint both decrease as the evening goes on.

Temp of 1.5c and a dew point of +0.4c so a lot more favourable compared to earlier in the day now.

With the amount of shower activity to the north, there is every chance some of us might receive a dusting overnight I think.  Nothing major, but some early morning wintry scenes likely for the early risers, most especially Gloucestershire & Wiltshire.

It'd be nice for us all to see falling snow at least.

Spitting with rain, just South of Salisbury.

Sat out, as we're cooking outside. Layers have increased as the afternoon has gone on.

Currently 3.1C and falling, so have turned to a glass of Red.

The rain has arrived , and at 3.4°C and a DP 1.3°C, I'm getting a "Not gonna happen" feeling with this winter, despite all the hype and the "Yeah" cries from many.... for the south coast, I really think we are in to a GW winter, one with lots of promise (if you live above the M4) and a continuation of recent winters , i.e. "Cold Rain"..not to worry we are used to this. So let's see how much accumulated rainfall this little puppy creates..(at least it will defrost my frozen compost!)...

The size of a pigeon's p##p, really, is that ALL we have to be excited about? It'll probably dwindle in to nothingness, as it hits the M4 boundary..Fingers crossed for youz guys close to the boundary line..

Reports in the Wales thread of a brief period of heavy snow from that lot in Monmouthshire.  Promising for those with a little elevation on their side then.

It has to be said, trawling around Europe and other data sources, it looks as thought the colder air has a finite lifetime, in the region of the next 2 weeks. Of course nobody can be certain, but when you look around the world and various feeds, the warmer air change looks a mere 2 weeks away..

Best make the most of the next couple of weeks then and chase these sleet showers til our hearts content!

Agree with you, re new eras of winter.  Spring & summer convective weather is much more rewarding for these parts nowadays.

Light rain now after a dry day with sunny spells. Not expecting anything white in this although seems there might be a chance of seeing a few flakes later. Probably won't get anything but you never know. 3.2°C

Looks to be weakening unfortunately as it crosses the Severn Estuary.

So we all hoping for a flurry later? from the stuff in the north...

Yeah they’re sending some scraps down later for us. We should be grateful.

Had a covering of snow earlier when temp was 1.4 and dp at 1°C so anything is possible. Really hope those without get a dusting later with the showers coming down from the north.

Now temp 0.4 with dp -0.2 and moderate snow.
