Hi everyone, happy new yeah to you all and hope everyone has good one this year! Anyway on to the Today's weather!

Observations: The first day of the new year was cold one, the Morning started very ICY with freezing fog covering much of the island. Some areas were so white it looked like snow with the rime coating everything. This fog lifted into a lot of general cloud with just a few limited bright spells with lingering mist and low cloud over high ground. Some areas even kept onto ICE throughout the whole day too. Into the Evening some patchy rain, drizzle and even sleet affected parts of the Island including my location, though was too light to accumulate.

Current: Cold and cloudy with very light patchy rain and drizzle, not heavy enough to accumulate.
Temperature: 3.4'c
Dew point: 1.8'c
Humidity 89%
Wind speed gust: 8mph with average speed at 4mph
Wind Direction: North West

Temperatures:  High 3.7'c at 20:38  Low -0.2'c at 08:08  Temp range 3.9'c
Humidity: High 89% at 13:38  Low 86% at 00:08
Sunshine Hours: 0.5
Rain Today: 0.0mm
High Wind Gust: 8mph at 12:08
Dominant Direction: West
Pressure: High 1014.7mb at 20:35  Low  1009.1mb at 00:08

As knife edge as it gets. Hopefully my 150m elevation will make the difference from an IMBY perspective.

For those that like to spend their Saturday nights lamp post watching, more northern parts of our region may see a sprinkling of the white stuff tomorrow night if there is any intensity on the trough left;

Probably a dusting, maybe 1cm or so in a few lucky places.

Cloudy start, so no frost this morning. Looking North towards Salisbury, it looks like a bit of a clearance is on the way.

A mild night in some aspects, currently 3.2c on the Isle of Wight, just too warm for snow down here, and I can’t really see that changing, even next week things are looking marginal! Would of been nice to see a bit of decent snow...... the chase goes on

Bit of an upgrade for the higher parts of dartmoor today for snow. Met office suggesting 3 hours of heavy snow. Rain for my location making the snow line around 300 metres.

Temp is dropping, currently -1.8c.

Will the precip make it down here later, and will it still be snow.... if we go on current form, it's no to both. But I'm forever optimistic and hope to wake in the morning to a dusting.

A high of 3.8c at 11:00pm yesterday, 3.7 at midnight.
Low of 3.4c at 6:30am.

Now 3.5c, 1016.6 hPa, 2mph NNW wind
Still no precipitation of any sort here since last Tuesdays rain, that registered anything.
Feels much warmer outside today and pleasant, that few degrees makes all the difference.
No frost either for the third day running and Thursdays was only a very light one.

Frosty start again, down to -2.1C. Now let’s see if we can get through the day without rain!

Looks like a band of sleet/snow on the way... not sure if it'll fizzle out before it reaches us. Looking at that forecast perhaps not?

I'll let you know if it snows here and whether it's heavy.

Morning all, woke to what looked like a damp day but a slippery walk up the garden revealed we had had a sub zero night again, this time ice instead of white and frosty. Just checked METO forecast, says we've got 80% chance of heavy snow late afternoon/evening, can't say that I'm convinced. It's cold here but that's under clear blue sky, don't think it's cold enough to sustain the chill when the cloud rolls in, expecting rain or sleet at best. Happy to be proved wrong though.

I suspect not, judging by the snow falling in the North West. Worst time of the day to arrive at lunchtime.

Given we didn't see a frost last night, the temperatures are going to have a fun time climbing today, already 4.1°C..the air behind it is largely in from the Irish Sea, so not that cold..altitude dependant I would think as has been the case for December..

Well well well... Met Office upgrading snow today... Let's see what comes to pass...

I noticed that clump of PPN heading SE over Wales now;

I suspect anything wintry will be confined to higher ground such as the Cotswolds and Mendips, with a temp of 3.5c and a dew point of +1.2c, I can only see rain or sleet here;

Screenshot_2021-01-02-11-09-13-04.thumb.jpg.1dc9676915072189eeff5420c86211b7.jpg

I would happily take being wrong though.

Yeah going to be another marginal event for us, dewpoint looks to remain close to 0'c on the UKV and 850hpa temps at -6'c. Why does any precipitation always seem to arrive at the worst time of the day...

Stunning frost yesterday morning here, looked very seasonal. Slight frost this morning. Still yet to see a flake of snow falling from the sky!
