Dodged the showers earlier, but it's now raining.

Off for a week after today.  Was hoping for a break in the weather to get away for a few days, but any potential rise in pressure looks too far away. Bit annoying.

Didn't get anything from that rain this afternoon so it was a dry afternoon once the showers cleared earlier on. Reached 14.9°C, currently 11.3°C

Looking to my west the radar suggests three possible areas of interest over the next few hours, all heading this way and will gap as they reach me, but potential exists...

A couple of mm's of rain from showers here. Temp 14.4°C

Whilst it is breezy, winds are not as high as the current forecast.

Quite a few times this year, wind speed forecasts have been poor.

Wet, wet and more wet!  No other way to describe today and it's still at it out there now.  I haven't ventured to the gauge since this morning's reading which was 3.7mm.  Just hope that it doesn't overflow before 09.00 tomorrow!

Well my monthly rainfall records are only reliable back to February 2014 but they have all been broken following yesterday's (Saturday) 17.0 mm. This month to date it is 170.6 mm, and counting.

Highest months are now:

Oct 2020 170.6 to date (190% of long term average).
Jan 2016 162.0
Feb 2020 154.3
Dec 2018 150.5.

Squelch.

Forecasts were very wrong for here yesterday. They all had strong winds with 35-43mph gusts and a lot more rain than we had.
Wind was only 8-13mph through the day with 15-20mph gusts and a few 22-25mph gusts between 5pm to 8pm
A spell of showery rain from 5pm to 10pm, gave 8.9mm, rest of the day was dry.
Mid afternoon temp was at 16.8c

Was still 12.4c at 5am, temp then dropped to 9.8c at 6:30am.

At 6:00am we had some heavy hail and rain showers, 8.6mm from that spell.
At 6:45am we had a few loud thunderclaps and lightning.
Turned to light drizzle now and brightening up nicely.
Now 10.4c, 996.5 hPa, SW wind 6-8mph.

Surprised to find only 17.3mm in the gauge this morning, as Frosty hollows has commented, it sounded like much more!

Enjoy Porlock Weir, jtay.  Love that area, not been for a while.

Thank you.

Nice bit of mammatus on the back edge of that shower.
