Just looked at the local forecast search on the homepage for Stroud. It’s saying that the only 3 hour period between 7pm this evening and 4pm tomorrow we’re not going to have heavy rain, we’ll have torrential rain instead...

4mm Wednesday
5mm Thursday
37mm Friday

Since midnight, we have had a further 21mm.
its brightening up now with a little drizzle.
13.1c, 986.9 hPa, light SSE winds

You would hardly know we have had all this rain, it has drained away very quickly on paths, pavements and roads.
But, my Raspberries, Runner beans, French beans, Brussel Sprouts, Kale Chard/Spinach and plenty of outdoor tomatoes are all loving it

38mm yesterday so the wettest day of the year so far. Not as wet as expected so far today but very dark and dull and wintry feeling.

Morning All, a damp start to the day, maybe we will see the back edge later this morning...maybe not before it begins to pivot..Anyway yesterday reached the heady sum of 47mm and so far today we are at 20.6mm so that'll do the garden grand..temperature wise 13.1°C..meanwhile surfing lesson anybody?

A rare sight on the radar if it is to be believed is showing rain pretty much covering the whole of the UK!

The rain doesn't look like becoming heavier here according to the radar. It's not raining at all now.

Had incredible amounts of rain here in Frome as yesterday was a heavy streamer smack bang over is coming from the east .

I expect will be similar amounts to what Andy has mentioned .

Heavy rain here currently as well intensifying on the radar for the rest of the day and probable night too. Stay safe .

We're  right on the eastern edge of the rain band and it's still raining, but gently.  10.4mm from 09.00GMT to a few minutes ago.  Cheered by lettice's comment about brightening up but fear it may be after dark before it happens by which time the rain band may be on its way back!

24.6 mm so far today here, since midnight. So:
1st: 11.3mm
2nd: 48.6mm (daily record)
3rd: 24.6mm so far
Total this month: 84.5 mm. Must be a 3 day record for my site, probably by quite a long way.

Rain seems to have set in here now. Really pepped up in the last half hour.

Dark and wet outside.....great excuse to fire up the woodburner for the first time this season!

. ..a few glasses of wine, several episodes of Schitts Ceek and all will be well with the world..,.until the morning.

Not here Db. Plain ol' light rain. Nothing heavy since around half 9 this morning. Since then, it has been mainly drizzle and light rain.

Still solid persistent heavy rain here in Frome as it has been non stop all day .

Im sure today's rain along with tonight and tomorrow proabably further totals over 50mm on top of Andys figures for last night , Friday and Wednesday a totals .

Very wet week indeed after prolonged dry weather .

Really pepped up here too. Nothing for it. Just have to chill with wine and lemon TV!

I don't understand why they are keeping the Amber warning going for places further West? The rain is light and beginning to peter out. It's pretty obvious where the Amber warning should be!

I agree with that, the low is further south which is dragging the worst of the rain further east with it, there is always the possibility the low will move north to where it is forecast to be.......however the potential in my opinion has passed in this part of the world, something which is more common than the events that are predicted these days!!
