If the Uppers are -7 or -8 we need a much slacker flow and showers to form pretty much overhead before they stream WSW into the London Area. If the Flow is stronger and showers form where they usually do around 35-50 miles off the coast the air will get mixed and we will see wintry showers. This one is not a done deal as ECM has been consistently showing since its runs 3 or 4 days ago (eg none have shown anything over wintry showers)

Guess what its gunna be on a knife edge lol

Would be touch and go for us, due to the close proximity to the estuary - further inland, such as Basildon/Brentwood would be much better placed

Agreed. -10 uppers and I’d be confident. As you say it’s going to be knife edge for us on the coast with DP’s potentially a spoiler. Never simple is it!

...meanwhile in some parts of the West Midlands they are sitting looking out of their windows at 15-20cm+ of snow that has fallen in the last few days. Share the love weather gods ??

Quick question for the more technical  minded members...

considering we are under low pressure (albeit very slack) we have seen very little precipitation falling over our region. Have we been stuck in a pocket of drier air or is it to do with upper air flow? Aside from the disappointment of not seeing falling snow was just wondering if there’s a meteorological reason behind it? Be great to learn and understand why it panned out the way it has? TIA

I thought I saw we were under 1002 / 1004 Mb? Quite high low pressure if you know what I mean .....

My friend used to play for you. It’s very sad what’s happening there. Really do hope you get out of it.??

Up here in the north of this region we don't seem to do that well. Too often a Green oasis, but we did get a slight covering a week or two ago.

Better luck this winter perhaps, must be our turn one day, strangely though an Easterly isn't that great for us.

Yes in some cases a small number of miles can make all the difference.  I used to live in Prittlewell and getting the train to London there were noticeable higher amounts in places like Rayleigh and Billericay. Much prefer the 87/91/10 scenarios where everywhere gets clobbered.

It might settle on the flood waters at The Dolphin!

Ice, I’d imagine. Tonight’s effort has all the hallmarks of a drizzle/snizzle layer, quick clearance and clear skies. But let’s hope Yamkin’s infiltrated!

I still think it's further north it's still in Wales not below it, and even going further up Wales a little now.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
