I'm sorry for your loss Lassie. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Stay strong

Trying yo lighten the mood. It does look as though (hopefully) this crud will clear later today and we may see some sunshine...

The EURO4 is finally picking up on snow showers from tomorrow afternoon. I'm still not convinced by the high res models this morning on amount of rain its showing not as snow. Some at the depths of night are showing rain even inland with dew points looking around 0 and temps 1 at best.. Any heavier showers would almost definitely be of snow away from coasts

Last night I was surprised to see dew points held up above 2c around 2.1c here currently.. Although it has now started to drop off.

Thank you surrey. Have you been away?

Well the BBC forecast until Tuesday is underwhelming to say the least for the SE.

No mention of any wintriness whatsoever now stating stronger Easterly winds and a little less cold !!

Showing temps between 4 & 6c. That’s a shade below normal.

Either the models are wrong or the Beeb ?

The BBC always underplay cold spells and show temps higher than the actual outcome, been wrong this week with temps lower than they forecast.

So if any of us in Se next week away from hills have snowfall and lying snow then it's another failure from the BBC mild ramping weather team, as they haven't mentioned anything about snow to lower levels, despite latest ukmo and ecm snow uppers at minus 8 for 3 days with even lower uppers not far  away. Met office the same with snow Only on hills

I guess they aren't bothered by their credibility rating if their forecast for not week is WRONG, same with Met Office.

The media have ran with this cool spell and have turned it into the beast from the east already. I wonder who will be correct, BBC or the Daily Express lol

During lockdown my business consumed every minute of the day. I would be waking up at 4am everyday eating when I could then back to bed at 9pm and reapet. It got very busy to quickly and I didn't have any time to sort proper processes out etc etc.

I shouldn't complain and I'm not I just had no time to myself. Now I've got more space and a yard it's easier and quicker to process orders and I have more available free time. Plus it's seasonal so in the winter it's a bit quiter.

So so sorry, my parents died in September and it will take a while to get your head around it! It is such a shock even if they were ill like mine!

Dad went a week after mum, they had been together since they were 14 so he couldn’t go on! The worst bit was that week between, it does get easier I promise! Xx

So sorry to read that Lassie, it’s a terrible thing to go through. I lost my mum many years ago now (both she and I were far too young) and although never forgotten, time really does help I promise.

So while the north east gets a nice unexpected snowfall this morning, it’s 4c and grey here. MO forecast is now showing heavy rain all day Monday. That’ll be cheery on the first day back at work after Christmas

Wow m, reading the last page of posts really puts everything into perspective. I’m so sorry for miss so many have experienced recently

onto more trivial matters ...but a subject that may help distract from the serious ones ...it’s looking a bit disappointing snow wise for our region I have to say. I’m hoping that the ECM is missing the convection from the easterly next week. If not it will be a few flurries at most. Keep an eye on the High res models such as Arome, UKV and Harlam from tomorrow as they are the types of models that will show streamers & showers most accurately

Was it unexpected If you read the model thread from a few days ago it was well forecasted.   Re Monday ...anything that falls might be rain to start with but by lunchtime it should be snow and by Monday night there is nothing marginal about this. Unless perhaps you are right on the south coast EG Bournemouth

Hi Lottie,

Still seeing a window for a mid-Kent Streamer (Nor'Easter), in the next few Days.

Even though surface temps and 850 temps aren't particularly low, I'd be very surprised if the higher parts of Kent, didn't see a little settling Snow.

Regards,

Tom.

With a lot of London and South East under uppers of just -6 on that chart still looks marginal for many of us ... wintry mix and no settling by the looks of it !!,?

To be fair, I wasn’t too sure. Was just going by what people were saying in the mod thread about it not being forecast.

Still hoping for something but need the temp to drop!

Encouraging to see the convective activity further north this morning really catch out the models. I reckon they’ll be downplaying our chances in a few days time, so keep the faith and leave it to a nowcast situation
