I was wondering whether the snow prospects have gone pear shaped by now like they usually do.

Well the fog cleared to rain, didn't expect any rain today. Temp up a little 6.1 now. Wind coming from the west.

On the third picture why is the fog so dense to the left? Some kind of water source there?

Highly likely SH. Norfolk is riddled with broads (lakes) and the main Norfolk Broads are just to the east of Norwich where Chris, who took the pics, is based.

@MAF

I remember snowatch. Those were the days.

@Steve Murr those were the days!  nuff said

no moderation, no input from the forecasters, no data. But if it hadn't been as bad as it was @Paul probably wouldn't have started NW.

seen so many winter model watches since then. enjoyed so many storm chases while i was on night shifts and learnt loads more than i ever imagined.

hope you and yours are all well

The position of this low on Friday really isn’t decided yet, could we be in for snow? Do we expect it might trend a little further south than the charts today?

Morning! Temp has dropped steadily since midnight, now 4.7c

I can’t see us getting any snow in my part of the world at the end of the week, maybe just a little too warm for us looking at the charts. Also, hoping no snow (so against everything I ever want at winter - still sad about the complete lack of snow last winter!) anywhere Friday as I’m driving to Bangor in Wales to collect the eldest daughter from uni (pending a second negative covid test).

After Friday evening however, I’m hoping for The Day After Tomorrow situation

Good luck all for the upcoming cold spell, I hope your Grebes are facing the right way and that the SCOD conditions were met

I have snow symbols!!!

Thursdays rain changing to sleet about 11pm and then light snow from 3am to lunchtime Friday!!

Not really expecting much but tbh I'd be over the moon just to see a bit of falling white stuff for the December Christmas vibe!!!xx

Morning all,

I hope I find yourselves and your Families, well.

I have spoken to Malcolm (Blessed Weather), and he has kindly agreed to let me resurrect, my White Xmas, Sammy the Snowman feature.

I'll be using Sammy and his Wife Sharon, to depict the chances of a White Christmas for our Region.

I will start the feature around about 9th December, t384 on the G.F.S. Model.

I will then report on our White Christmas chances every couple of Days, backed up by the ECM/UKMO Models, when Xmas Day appears on their Radar.

I will express our prospects in percentage probability and Betting Odds, certainly more generous than currently available, by your High Street Bookmaker.

Let's hope our loved up frozen couple, have plenty to smile about come Xmas Day.

And are not reduced to a melting mess, on the big Day.

Sammy has provisionally booked Flights to Lapland, should the Weather outlook look bleak, for Snow prospects on Xmas Day.

Regards,

Tom.   ❄️ :snowman-emoji:

The wife has just text me . Followed by a phone call asking me why I haven’t told her , I simply replied that it’s to early to say and I didn’t want to jinx it .

ECM has limpet lows continually over England for the next 10 days...looks like good ol' cold rain for the time being - oh joy!

Goodness me, I take a couple of weeks away from Netweather due to work commitments and return to talk of snow?! Well, fingers crossed for the first snow chase of the season

A beautiful morning in Surbiton, love the crisp cool days, more please with some of the white stuff too❄️

I'm trying to reign in the ramping, but the tree is up, BBC6 are having a Christmas office party day, and I've seen the flakes on the forecast.
