Woken up at 7.10 am (new time) by an incredibly loud clap of thunder followed by torrential rain, it's years since I've heard such an explosive single thunder roll out of nowhere.

My sister drove back to Guildford from visiting my mother in the west Country last night and had rather a challenging trip having to divert off the A331 due to flooding.

We had the same in Chessington , I was woken by a distant rumble followed by a much louder one around 20 mins later .

Yes, it is quite possible I slept through the distant rumble! Hope you are well? I'm enjoying the change to autumn colours and keeping fingers crossed for some 'proper winter' during these tough times.

Not to bad thanks . We have just moved in to our new home a few weeks ago and it coincidentally was at the same time the weather cooled down . We have been gardening a lot so yes enjoying the Autumn conditions , It would be nice to get a bit more sunshine though .

Seem to have dodged the showers at Heathrow today. Though that squall line was very impressive last night, the rain was incredible!

Cold again this morning with a low of 3.6c at around 5:30am!

Currently 5.7c

Looking at some other weather stations inland, there must have been localised frosts as the temp got down close to freezing in parts of central/east Kent

Horrible day today lots of drizzle seems to be stopping now and starting to turn a little brighter, much quieter than yesterday's thunderstorms and torrential downpours

Urgh this rain is doing my head in now!! Meto saying a bit more settled by middle of next week and into mid November so I hope they're right! It also means some nice chilly, sunny and crisp days too, which I much prefer! Don't mind a bit of fog to start either!x

Indeed WG... Yesterday sums up all the things I despise about autumn: it was cold enough to be irritating, windy enough to be irritating and, yes, wet enough to be irritating...

I’m currently in East Sussex, seems everywhere I go it keeps lashing down, today and yesterday was despicable very squally downpours today they have been persistent, it’s dry currently but doubt it’ll stay like that, even had a little storm a hour ago it was a LOUD boom, Monday was lovely in contrast!

Just had a squall through Uxbridge area, whoah. Day into night, wind was unreal and rain/hail was intense for about 3 or four mins overall. Now bright again.
