Well I think we are now in the rain, knew it would get here eventually, but it was nice to see the sun a couple of times today. Very unexpected.

It's been raining for over 6 hours here non-stop today. It looks to be calming down a little bit though. Temperature has just hit 10c but was hovering at 9c throughout the past few hours.

N England and into Scotland looks like the place to be today.

Both the ECM and GFS show a break from the rain at day 10 - looks like a pretty good chart if you're after something settled, so let's hope it comes off.

81mm since Friday, 85mm since the 1st. Judging by the radar I could probably squeeze another 5 to 10mm over the next few hours.

Still drizzling, managed 85 mm. Reasonable chance of breaking 100mm this month!

About as poor a 72 hour window of weather as I can remember...haven't measured the rainfall here but must be exceeding 50mm.

Heavy rain in the Hastings area again this evening accompanied by winds gusting 30+ mph.

Mainly drizzle through the middle of the day following heavy rain this morning. 15.4mm today up to 7pm.

High tide at Rye Harbour this afternoon :

95mm since Thursday night here. Thats crazy. Actually stopped now. Think a lot of it absorbed by the ground after relatively dry September, otherwise would have been even more flooding.

It was dry most of the day here, some how, even had some sun. Its making up for it now with both wind and moderate to heavy rain.

Jesus christ, the rain has just cleared through here, but what a finally, strongest winds of this year. Must have squalled.

Edit, no squall on radar, so can't explain where the wind came from, has anyone got an analysis of what the iso bars on the low is doing now, may well be quite tight. Thank goodness its gone anyway, though it was gonna blow my windows in.

Looks like it was a squeeze of the isobars on the south east flank of the low pressure system as it swirled around over East Anglia. Coupled with a further squeeze of the winds blowing up the English Channel. Here's the Arpege charts for 23.00 Sunday:

Pressure: 1488026665_ArpegePressure04Oct23_00.thumb.png.483da2bb1db3e9d56b295b68cc697290.png Wind Gusts: 1745056881_ArpegeGusts04Oct23_00.thumb.png.51d55dc5546bcfb29a897d74700c744e.png

Source: http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/arpege.php?ech=3&mode=53&map=330&heure=18&jour=4&mois=10&annee=2020&archive=1

And the rainfall totals for yesterday, as calculated from the hi res radar, makes for an interesting chart as it clearly shows where the dry centre of the low pressure was located (over Lincolnshire), with the heavier rain circulating around the low:

Yep I got caught in that, there's a chance of showers, and for coastal areas, longer spell of rain if they join together. Nice and sunny again for now though.

It’s a Monday miracle, the rain has stopped! There are tinges of blue and some weird yellowish ball of light occasionally in the sky. Managed to sweep up the leaves scattered all over the artificial lawn, which no doubt will be covered again soon.

Weatherquest have used the Met Office and Environment Agency network of gauges to produce this map of rainfall totals over the 3 day period Thur 1st to Sun 4th October. Some impressive totals that in some areas go a long way towards the usual amounts seen in the entire month.

And with further weather systems moving in off the Atlantic and forecast to bring more rainfall later this week, the Region is heading for a wetter-than-average October this year. GFS going for another possible inch of rain (25mm) for many parts of the south of the Region by the early hours of Saturday 10th:
