Didn’t know we was expecting an avalanche today 🤔

Stonking day for storms. Had two cells with continuous thunder [but mostly no visible lightning again]. Here's some pictures of one storm that I tracked as it progressed up the M11 which produced some

Am enjoying a weekend away 60 miles S of Prague in the pretty town of Písek, the storm front that came in this evening was dramatic!

Looks lke it might be slowly dying anyway to be honest. We'll still get the leftover rain from it. You never know...it might get going again. It's very humid so anything's possible I suppose.

It's just so gloomy here now.

does seem that way , all the energy further E is keeping the going , pretty much as forecast

Nope, wasted effort overall.

The MCS died off just before reaching the coast, gave a few rumbles and one small IC.

Its now just heavy rain, anyone in NE Norfolk prepare for little action from the complex.

On a plus note some very active and extreme weather again for some areas that have missed this passed week, and some that have managed yet again, just to rub it in more.

Still many areas with nothing at all though so I'm not going to complain any further.

Might revise that NE Norfolk has a bit more activity just off Yarmouth

French storms dying upon channel entry as predicted. Can't buy some night time storms down here this year.

Some very heavy rain here, nothing in the way of T&L though

Think we had a rumble in Dronfield just now? Hard to tell as we're chatting in the kitchen 😅

I think AROME could be right for this evening for the London area. Can see discrete signs of a cumulus field setting up just inland on the south coast. Very faint on the SAT though

6th straight day under a warning and naff all!

Only 4.8mm of drizzle during the whole period. There's more chance of lightning in Winter here, it seems.

There’s more chance of lightning underground, in winter, on the moon, before the Big Bang. And that’s statistically proven

Yes someone else I know who lives in Chezzie confirmed they heard a rumble, too. I'm more interested in that stuff leaving Lincs.

And Norfolk.

Well, that was biblically epic. Or epically biblical.

Decided to go for a quick drive-ette to the west and park up to see what was what. Headed to one of my fave places just before Bradenham, lovely view, dark clouds, grumbly skies. Notice that it was probably going to heave down, so hopped back in car. Got hit by what can only be described as a wall of water. Thought, hmm, possible flooded roads, better head back. I should point out that I was chasing in Garfield Mini rather than my usual mode of transport for this sort of thing, my Vito.

By the time I got into Bradenham (literally 2 mins and a mile later), the roads were already flooding badly, things got progressively worse towards Ashill and Saham Toney, visible tarmac was non existent - actually visibility was non existent. Darkness punctuated by regular flashes of lightning. Crawled along until I got down to Saham, people desperately trying to stem the floods, and still it was heaving it down. Spotted flash Merc up to its sills in water, decided to go another way. Met 2 nice chaps who suggested I park in the community centre carpark and phone the OH for a lift back in the Range Rover. Good plan, except that the flood water was rising rapidly around the Community centre and I had no intention of abandoning Garfield to his fate.

Negotiate road to Watton, noticing how bloody inconsiderate some drivers are, poor people trying to stop the water coming into their houses and complete morons happily charging through flood water sending huge waves down people's driveways. Water erupting from drains etc, notice smell of sewage. Get into Watton, still torrrential but High St passable; get back to Hingham, looks like there's been nothing more than a moderately heavy shower. Get back home and literally no rain at all. Have a look a map and see how far Garvestone is from Bradenham-Saham-Watton.

Moral of this story - Minis are really versatile but never wait that extra 5 minutes just to see what might happen!
