Still dull here, temp dropping, anything reaching here may well weaken fairly quickly.

Is there a chance of anything for London later? We've had had some rain today and I heard thunder in the distance this morning but no storms yet. Everything seems to be kicking off to the North instead

Awaiting the storm just off the Suffolk/Essex coast.

This may turn out better than hoped given the latest updates.

Birds have gone nuts and have perched on the Long Shop wind vane, normally happens when storms are close.

Not sure whats was more boring, watching the Spanish GP or looking at the radar hoping for some convective near Bournemouth......Not even seen the sun since about 5pm on Thursday....

But I can see some blue sky, oh the excitement...

I guessing that we have something like 0.000001% chance of getting a storm today?

Or is that too generous?

I can't be asked to watch since Lewis Hamilton went all political.

On a plus side it looks like the Belgium storm may make landfall in Suffolk, Bournemouth seems to be within a storm shield so no banana

Stoke on Trent's storm shield is now back up and running at maximum capacity, anything that gets within 30 miles of us (including stuff getting over the Pennines) fizzles out...

Those storms look awesome on the radar. Wonder if they'll survive further NW.

Running the radar back and forth, the cell that passed over Peterborough was absolutely flying in a SW direction, despite everything else moving NW... possible Supercell?

This suddenly looks very promising.

A lot of activity towards Warwick now.

Will be a direct hit for here if it keeps going.

what’s the chances of these storms reaching Kings Lynn? looks like this could be my best shot for awhile so i’m hoping they keep powering my way!

Not so long ago @Zak M said he’d rather live near the coast to see better storms. Does he still think this? :oldlaugh:

As for here on the coast. Still waiting...

Looks like EURO4 predicted these storms quite well although the timing is a bit off. Nice to see tparts of the UK getting those intense storms that we normally observe over Europe! Strange to see a day with lots of cloud cover and temps in the low 20s do so well in terms of convective activity!

Looks like it’s working out different to what was forecast. Still small hope for later for Surrey and sussex

What hope is there later as still no storms or decent rain In central sussex, all the sever stuff seems all to our north.

Have some videos of the Peterborough cell, torrential rain, very strong gusts, flooding and trees down. At one point we also had reasonable size hail (2 x pea size maybe)

I dunno possibly a CZ helped with buoyant incoming air. There should be some cloud breaks but unless they happen soon it’s kind of pointless

What a storm that was. Wow.

Had a storm approach me, hit me, produced a downburst that almost knocked my next door neighbours tree over and once the rain had stopped, the thunder it started producing was unreal.

Best storm this year for sure. I will upload one of the clips I managed to get soon (it's over 20 mins long!)

Still a few miles to the south of me, plenty of thunder rumbling around though. Was hoping for developments on the NE edge but so far nothing. Still, new StrikeAlert is having a mini-workout

Well it’s sunny here atm but no point if they form here and move north as still miss out on them. Need stuff to come across the channel but instead of die as soon as it hits the coast it needs to keep its Oooph. But not really seeing any sigh of that
