Hi all,

I just put together a compilation of all the best storms I had this year. It was a very good year for storms here in Bedford!

I hope you all enjoy.

Thinking of making a 2020 Weather Video hopefully in order of photos.

It was a good year here, and it looks like we had at least 6 to 7 days of thunder based on the map.

Day 1 Convective Outlook

VALID 06:00 UTC Fri 22 Jan 2021 - 05:59 UTC Sat 23 Jan 2021

ISSUED 09:28 UTC Fri 22 Jan 2021

ISSUED BY: Dan

Areas of showers will feed westwards across England and Wales, and southwestwards across Scotland and Ireland, through Friday and Friday night - occasionally organised into more distinct bands at times as troughs/occlusions swing through in the flow. These may be capable of producing hail and a few isolated lightning strikes.

Morning. Is anybody able to confirm if the lightning strike in the Southampton region at 6.30 this morning was a positive charge strike? I'm not sure which site/detector is best to determine this. It was one hell of a clap of thunder. Reports of it heard over a wide area

ICYMI (SOUND WARNING) On Sunday morning parts of Hampshire experienced the weather phenomenon of thundersnow. This footage...

Video from doorbell cam. Probably the loudest thunder I've ever herd. People love about 15 miles from me said it was like a bomb there too!

Anyone else see the storm?

I did have a flash of lightning an hour or so ago.  Then saw this in the Local METAR.

I'd presume they are sniffing out some thundery rain which was showing to be more organised as a squall a few days ago.

Oh I'm in a level one at this time of year. Let's see what happens.

Day 1 Convective Outlook

VALID 06:00 UTC Thu 28 Jan 2021 - 05:59 UTC Fri 29 Jan 2021

ISSUED 08:23 UTC Thu 28 Jan 2021

ISSUED BY: Dan

Showery bursts of rain during Thursday evening and night, on the forward side of an upper trough, could produce a few isolated lightning strikes. There is also some support for a squally post-frontal trough to slide close to southern Ireland and then into S / SW Wales and SW England towards midnight, and then into the English Channel during the early hours of Friday, which may also be the focus for a few isolated lightning strikes.

Just wanted to check in and say hi and hope everyone's doing ok. I wasn't around much last year at all due to extremely lacklustre storm activity in my area. Really really crappy year for storms for me, as bad as 2016 and that's saying something.  Hoping this year will be a lot better. Haven't had a decent (proper storm) since my nighttime storm of 2018 which was a french import on the same night we had the london supercell. Lets hope 2021 delivers the goods.

Speak soon and take care everyone,

Windblade
