I’m looking East over Whitstable and can see quite a show going on a long way off. Clouds lighting up frequently. Is this the storm off Great Yarmouth? If so that’s a long way from me....

It’s strobing now, like every second. Even better, the huge anvils are being highlighted by the impending sunrise. Sometimes you have to step back and appreciate nature’s awesome power. I’m in awe at this.

Best silent storm I have ever seen in the UK by far. Nothing comes close to this.

About 180 strikes a minute with this storm now  imagine if that was further West

I'm guessing this was the potential Supercell just that it happened all the way to the East?

Agreed. Still watching it in a state of shock and captivity right now! The line of anvils is incredible!!

Most of it is starting to push out my reach now so I'm still seeing some faint lightning but not as frequent. But, I have to say, I am stunned. Really stunned.

I'm very tired at the moment so I'm going to head off to bed now. I will try to post as many more pictures/clips as I can in the morning (or afternoon, depending when I wake up!)

Here’s a few pictures. Can just about see the defined squall line filled with huge CB’s. This is the best part of 150 miles away!!

North Sea has decided to rival Lake Maracaibo!! 510 strikes per minute on that beautifully clean MCS!! What a monster. These pictures were taken as it was Skirting NW Holland. Crazy distance!!

A few snaps I got when it was just off the E Anglia coast, from Peterborough.

This storm would have been insane if it was over the Uk

One day we will see it. We need upper forcing to engage with the plume at the right time and place. It’s very difficult. You could even say it was a bust for Belgium and South Holland, as they were under the Mesoscale Discussion area, but only Northern Holland got the first batch. The second has just became an epic fish storm and pleasing those working in the oil and gas sector once again!

DLS was the key ingredient here once again. Tonnes of it with this storm Ellen on the edges, where it met the SW-NE orientated Spanish plume. Again, not a great deal of CAPE present! We need what we saw in 2017 with that monster forming over Brest and the Channel Islands, but 100-150 miles further NW starting over Cornwall and carving a NE line right through the UK. August 2016 was probably the closest we saw with that. Typical that I was on holiday then!!

You can make out the bolt from thin air :shok:

Looking at the 2 frames it shows on (especially the 2nd one where most of the light has faded but the bolt is still there) that looks like the base 'core' of a jet  If you had a low-light level camera you probably would have seen the entire bolt on it!

Someone please tell me that they have footage of that lot in the north sea!!!

I don't think people realised it would be there. Tipical though, went over this area as developing ac cas. Knew it was a north sea storm.

Ahh my Favourite cam to watch during a windstorm, Low tide now so waves aren't getting high up, but go back about 5 hours and they were crashing over the pier and the small lighthouse at the end

Also BigjetTV is currently streaming live from Heathrow, lots of Wobbly landings and take-offs and plenty of Go-arounds.

I also tried some photography on my SLR but because it was dark and very far away it didn't turn out too well so this is my best one
