Cell just passed over with some more torrential rain and some big CGS. That’s more like it, proper thunder.

A beautiful altocumulus castellanus sunrise this morning.

Oo she's a beauty

My first attempt at storm shots 🤷‍♂️ (Please don't judge 🤣) The cells are impressive tonight!

That Morecambe webcam looks mental!! I’m down in Poole sweltering, visiting parents in same room as I watched the mental Bournemouth cell hit in July 15. Very different here, just desperate for a slight breeze. Not nice.

Kuala Lumpur type storms hopefully. That place however gets battered more or less on a daily and even a nightly basis.

Stayed there back in mid 2000s for a few days and saw nothing until we were flying up out of the city and literally looked down into an anvil. Was amazing

MCS status now surely achieved, lightning now seems to have become more spread out and sporadic than before, i wish it was 50 miles further east but as always, happy for anyone in the UK to see good storms!

Measured a good 300km from the storms to where the flashes were visible here in Ireland. Quite remarkable.

Amazing how far you can see lightning when conditions are clear! You would’ve been in a good spot to observe sprites too. I wouldn’t be surprised if that thing produced some.

Storm chaser Pecos Hank demonstrates them very well.

Indeed. I was on the phone to my mate in Liverpool and she was just awestruck that I could see some of the flashes here.

The one things she said was that the lightning in Liverpool just started all of a sudden and not a gradual build up, it’s started constantly flashing just like that from nothing.

Calming down here now with lightning more infrequent but still aa very impressive storm. Apart from at the start where the rain was proper torrential, rainfall struggled to get back into any meaningful intensity which was ashame as that always adds to a storm.

Whelp, the rain line's almost passed me here, and were having nothing more than a very light 'shower'.  Gonna call it a night so have fun with the storms all you Northerners. 😛 Got my fingers crossed for something slightly further south tomorrow. 😛

Met Office latest weather update has thundery showers for my area from 3am , I'll be surprised if it that happens !

Just had a couple of diverted flights (because of the NW storms) pass over on approach to Birmingham airport , One that was en route to Liverpool and another for Manchester .

That's a long early morning taxi/bus/coach ride back for the passengers .
