All the lightning seems to be elevated and not bolts that go to the ground (can't remember correct name for that)

Intracloud lightning. It’s been that here. Thunder sounds so high up! Lol

Thunder is pretty much constant. Got plenty of videos but dare not risking the window open with this one lol

It's actually a fairly safe storm as all the lightning are cloud to cloud, one of those where strikes to houses or power cut are much slimmer.

Down side is the quieter thunder sounds but the light show is making up for that.

Check out the development stretching from Gloucester up towards Manchester. Also moving NW.

Constant lightning/thunder for 120 mins - 34mm of rain since 23:30, pouring through the door. Me and my Mrs are doing 10 minute shifts on the mop.....What fun.

Not being funny but the storms we are now ‘owed’ in the south are frightening in prospect

If that lot up north can happen on those temperatures then imagine what will be unleashed from four days of suppressed 25° > 35°+ air that we’ve been stifling in?

Been under it for a while. Not a lot reaching the ground really. Worth keeping an eye on though...it has been slowly increasing in intensity. Only producing the goods at it's northern end in Cheshire so far.

Just never ending, cell after cell.

early June 1983 was the last time I remember anything similar here. Posted that on a local,FB page and had quite a few  (who are old enough!) agreeing!

Can see the storm easing now. Lightning becoming less frequent with longer gaps between each flash

I keep thinking that and then it ramps up a few notches again lol

Kuala Lumpur type storms hopefully. That place however gets battered more or less on a daily and even a nightly basis.
