I know there was one that went over Kent that done that, I think it was 17.

Might be the storm in these photos? That was early hours of 29th May 2017.

Lightning every second now to the northwest beyond Manchester. Very picturesque. iPhone video doesn’t do it justice.

Literally constant lightning and occasional thunder overhead. I could be stupid but I swear I can see a funnel cloud or some crud trying to descend as the sky lights up with flashes.

Here is a phone video from a few mins ago.

There may be others.  Two cells look active, one to the south and one out west. For us storm-starved southerners, this could be the next best thing!

I often forget just how immense that event was for these parts... Just look at those lightning rates!! I remember it going up to about 550 per min at one point! Hope I’ve already done a writing piece in my journal for it

Few big drops of rain now reaching the ground here. Wondering if it's trying to pep up a bit.

    Still quite windy.

Google is your friend. I have not found another yet. This one is below the tower looking south and west. Rain coming down hard now! Could be in for a show!

    Shame the definition is poor...

It’s a very rain-wrapped and elevated set of storms. Looks quite prolific but Prpbably one of the lease interesting places to be within a storm system, just sheet lightning and an annoying convective downpour

I'm going to have to go up there and have a few words with it. It's a very naughty storm.  🙂

To be frank I've had so little storm activity here I'd watch a guy with a flashlight on the beach right now.

Would not surprise me. I don’t know where to look there’s that much lightning to see.

That was the one, constant lightning, constant rumble with no breaks what so ever, was a good night. It was the third storm that hit Dover that evening, the others were not to bad either.

As much as I like seeing the reports of some spectacular thunderstorms elsewhere across the country please spare a thought for those of us here in the storm starved South East who have been sweltering for days in this heat and apart from the occasional distant flicker of lightning out in The Channel, have nothing to show for it.😕
