The radar is looking quiet but I assume most of what people are hearing is elevated?

There’s so much mid level CAPE lingering about, so it won’t take much for all of this latent energy to ignite. Northolt smashed 35.5c again today, and it isn’t being swept anywhere anytime soon!

Chins up people. There’s much more to come from this. Seeing a fair bit of AcCas skirting by too, on from the light convective rain we had earlier. Shame that cell didn’t hold out earlier. But I’ve got a feeling some elevated stuff may get going from 11PM onwards in places.

Edit, it’s already happening for some!

Big rumble of thunder to the south of here a few minutes ago, albeit rather distant. The skies in that direction have gone darker in the past ten minutes, as well.

Dorset Storm Shield doing its stuff, not sure it'll be letting its guard down either. 12z model output has complete consensus of nothing at all tonight, tomorrow & Wednesday along the coast. Nothing else other than exceptionally disappointing storm wise given the airmass.

Seriously though given the airmass if we don't get something in the repeated rounds this will absolutely rank first place in the lists of disappoints - which lets face it is a very long list.

High level clouds firing up over central southern england now, coinciding with expected increased activity on latest gfs run 18z - 24z.

Can see an large area of storms thundery rain developing and pushing north in next few hours, should be an interesting night.

I admire your optimism! Need to see that central English Channel light up with sferics soon though. The AcCas here is still building nicely but appears to be capped so it's just spreading out now.

Yup too heavily capped, something that looks unlikely to change through tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday here.

Can anyone tell me if the storms that may or may not form Futher south tonight are going to track more northerly or will they take the northwesterly track they have today? I honestly can't work it out!

Scary sounding b Thunder from this as it approaches

In Ainsdale  we saw a very bright flash and 10 seconds later incredibly loud booming thunder. Must have been frightening if you were close to it!
