A beautiful altocumulus castellanus sunrise this morning.

Oo she's a beauty

My first attempt at storm shots 🤷‍♂️ (Please don't judge 🤣) The cells are impressive tonight!

Corr blimey, if that little lot came off though! We can dream!

true, I think eastern england will have the storms (hopefully), parents dog, sister and brother in law and the kids are in great yarmouth all week so I got peace lol, but i'm back in work full time next week on light duties in stores (as got hernia), but the humidity has been ok for us today though.

That UKV run is honestly madness for much of England! Not entirely convinced everything will be shifted east with our current setup as the low drifts north from Spain & W France rather than approaching from the Atlantic.

Apparently I’m directly under one of those heavy Leeds showers. Only a couple of drops, suggesting that the precip is evaporating on its way to the deck.

Yes, I had that for about 60 seconds on the A64 heading towards the A1M (Leeds) at 1pm. Really strange!

What are peoples thoughts for Lake District area getting storms in the next few days?

Not sure but our popular BBC weather forecaster in the North West, Owain Wyn Evans, is now suggesting the potential for something potent on Tuesday and Wednesday in this region.

Just been out for a post-BBQ wander and I have to say, it's a lovely dusk sky out there, with trains of Ac Cas, towering nicely in spots and looking great against the orange western skies.

There are some interesting looking showers coming out of France, seemingly along the same train of instability I'm seeing. I would say some very lucky spots might get a CG or two out of these through the night hours.

Met Office is mumbling about the possibility of a storm or two around during the night.  Interesting!  A blast of arctic air would do right now as I am inundated with flies, moths and mossies piling in through the open patio door.

My son says he saw a pterodactyl flying over; we're trying to suggest it actually might have been a heron. It is surprising how often they fly in the dark.

Nothing on the lightning sites for Northampton, like Blitzorg etc.

It's interesting; I've seen reports of lightning in Plymouth, Tiverton, Derbyshire and Brum today, but none registered on LM or Blitz

Mid level instability creating occasional flickers of lightning through the night. Very Singapore!

Makes me wonder how big storms could be when they proper get going in a few days

Nice. I guess NW is outdoing Blitz these days!

Yeah - only one I ever bother checking nowadays.

This is what they use for the chart I posted above:

ATD Lightning Detector - The ATD system currently updates every 5 minutes using data from the Met Office Arrival Time Difference system, which is considered to be the most accurate lightning detection available.

BBC going for 59 hours of thunderstorms during the week. That should be fun! 🧐

Every time I check the Netweather 10day forecast, every single day is completely different from the previous time I checked it.  🤣🤪

I'm in ketteting, just had 2 big rumbles of thunder and a few spots of rain.

Nothing showing on the lighting maps!

I blame the algorithms, they are probably that used to the odd random 'strikes' over the UK being false that they just completely ignore them when they do happen for real 😛
