Storms and Convective discussion- 7th August onwards

Recommended Posts

A pretty grim end to a heatwave for Norfolk and Suffolk, almost the only region in the UK which has seen zero activity. Today it was grey skies and temps 10 deg + below yesterday's thanks to a poxy N'ly dragging in low cloud. Friends of mine less than 5 miles away were basking in hot sunshine all day.

Roll on 2021, it can't be globally worse than 2020.

So the channel storms are active?

Possibly...but only the occasional elevated flash - we had a few a while ago and yesterday no intra cloud being picked up by the detectors.I can see the very tops being lit up now of those storms off the North Kent coast form here in Eastbourre

JUst come back to this forum and gonna quote myself.....so this beautiful Cumulonimbus ended up bypassing NE of here moving WNW and all we got in the storm shield of the Chalfonts and Beaconsfield was light rain and some rumbles!!! Thoroughly uneventful while I was mowing the lawn. So EXACTLY the same as yesterday, those big cells that smashed the Hatfield, Luton and Dunstable area did the same....

And to rub it in....just had my dinner half hour ago and could out of nowhere see almost constant flashing to my N! Same place....Luton and bloody Dunstable again! Getting predictable now.

Just rain made it over, although when I say that, no rain is actauly reaching the ground, here anyway.

Nothing here along the road either...can you see all the elevated lightning? The bulk of it seems to be from the north, the cell heading towards Essex!

What part of the coast-

I don't live anywhere near the place, I'm over 200 miles away, I have no idea what all the little tiny village names are for an area that is nowhere near me 😛  I just found a random webcam that says it's in Kent (read the webcam description for the place names) showing the elevated IC flashes from the 'cone' storm I have no idea where the web cams are placed 😛

Is it worth intercepting this essex stuff?  Contemplating the M25 from south London

Parts of the M25 have apparently turned into a canal 😛 you may need to hire a barge/boat if it hasn't drained by now 😛
