Back home now. Lovely little entertaining chase. The rain was monumental, and scary at times.

Just checked the lightning detectors, quite a pokey little storm as developed in the S North Sea, ahead of a very active one in the Dam. Heads up TOD folks!!

Stevenage  copped it yesterday morning and then again tonight for about 5 six hours.  Rinse and repeat for a third day. I'm tired its hard for a brontophobic

Don't worry, I can relate to you.

Here's the first part showing Monday nights storm at Silverdale in Lancashire showing highlights of frequent bright flashes of lightning and loud rumbles of thunder as it started from around 11pm and lasted till about 5am

Barely been asleep one hour then woken up by thunder and lightning. Slightly unexpected. Deep rolls of thunder.

Seems to be less frequent now than 15-20 mins ago.

What are chances in the south today, any forecasts out? Last night was frustrating again as everything was just to my north. We managed one proper strike, a few distant flashes and 5 mins of rain. You'd be annoyed if it had woken you up.

Good to hear reports from others of some decent storms.

I just can't believe the lack of activity here considering the warnings all week.

The Triangle saw a few flashes around half 3 this morning, nothing in the way of thunder, lightening was out east so along the coast I guess. Want proper actual storm today. Murky misty and humid this morning.

Indeed it goes, coming all the way from Holland looking at the radar, soon to make landfall and it should come right by the triangle very soon let it be please.

So, it looks like I may get some dreggs, as that thing off the east coast seems to be kinda heading sorta my way, maybe at least enough to get a little action.

Unless it dies on the way, wouldn't suprise me.

I see in some respect the SOR / COS and TOD have all fallen in this Hot Spell so just praying the NE and Lincs can get some action now.

(and West Yorkshire!)

I don't think we have even had rain in Portsmouth!!, Missing out on everything 4 days straight. Need to do this properly in so far as what they do in the states and properly chase hundreds of miles across state lines.

Not a jot here overnight, have to say prospects right down here look poor and convective activity will be based on clearing the clag which unfortunately looks extensive.

One flash, possible thunder, or bin lorry, bit of rain and the shield has been fully activated. The rain can’t seem to get on land, just stuck off the coast by Lowestoft. If we can’t get a decent storm from that, we’re doomed

Well, it seems what did arrive was extrmemely elevated.

Despite being nearly under it, all I could hear were distant rumbles almost drowned out by the sound of morning traffic. No flashes.

Then just as it seemed it was going to come completely overhead, it suddenly died.

All in all.a fantastic night. Direct hit from an amazing storm(albeit mostly elevated), and Boris gave the go ahead for lash technicians to reopen! Oh,and I'm off for a minibreak this afternoon
