It's been shockingly awful storm wise here in Worthing. Just a bit of rain last night. Expecting nothing here today, tomorrow, or any time in the foreseeable future, storm wise. Though I did go to Brighton last night and saw a few flashes over the channel!

The news is of water shortages in the south east !

Wow heavy rain and a couple of flashes mixed in!! That northerly suddenly stopped as it was getting pitch black. Thank god. That wind has killed chances here since this spell began. Infact, the NE wind has been a plague all summer. The NW is reaping the benefits from it, as it’s shunting the high dew points and brewed instability over there.

It's very odd considering we've just had one of the wettest autumn and winters on record!

That’s a lot of non-thundery cloud over the midlands. Meanwhile hot in Sutton and clouds building at the coast. Estimating initiation over the far SE of London approx 2pm. Somewhere near the A3, perhaps

Yes TORRENTIAL rain here in Warwickshire for the last 45 minutes only 4-5 rumbles of thunder

Standard, elevated convection kicking off in the mid channel, only ever does that when moving away from the south coast......its currently on a WSW trajectory.

This doesn’t make any sense, we are looking at the airmass over the Sussex coast at the moment that’s likely to develop as it heads WNW towards wiltshire

The 06z Arome actually has some good potential for us! Hopefully it's right like it has been throughout these past few days.image.png.55deab84722a2f26e5f468c50a2130d3.png

I'm just wondering if cloud cover could be a real problem today in the south (if not one thing its another) lots of mid level crappiness advecting in from the ESE just as temps are getting into the mid 20s, we really need to drive them up another 3-5C and need the sun......

Heavy rain and thunder and lightning here again.

Not seen any lightning at all here (Stratford), it just seems to be mostly heavy rain with the occasional rumble of thunder.

A few rumbles to my east where the storm is....one or two flashes of lightning and some steady and much-needed rainfall.

Eastern channel has flow from the ESE as you say but central and western channel the flow is slightly southwards while moving west as convection is pivoting around the low pressure.

Morning from a storm starved Lincoln. First day off work this week and I've been treated to some fabulous dull cool weather. Will be surprised if we see anything anytime soon....

That's cheered me up:) I was worried it would be initiation around SW London like yesterday where we heard the distant rumbles as Twickenham got hammered and it all headed off NW from there.

Clearly the Met Office can’t make their minds up with the amount of warning update notifications I’ve had in the last few days...
