Occasional sun broken through now, breezy - temp 20C, but not expecting the same development as the previous 3 days.

Last night was amazing. The lightning was constant over Ilfracombe and Minehead. I could see it from where I live. Not a hint of thunder just constant flashes. Only the 2nd time I've ever seen this.

Once again, my chance for storms today has been decreased from 77% to 29%, so I'm really not expecting anything spectacular, but I remain hopeful.

I could see this too from North Cornwall, I was stood in the garden watching the constant flashing to my north, couldn't hear any thunder.

Wow that storm is turning into something quite special. Plenty of hail on it, and lightning rates increasing.

Wow, I know that area pretty well. I bet sitting on Exmoor watching a storm would be an amazing experience

Even this far inland the sun just can't burn this rubbish off.

Come up to Stoke, a sticky 24C already, clear blue skies with the odd small patch of fuzzy looking cirrus and this giant Cauliflower growing rapidly to my north

Finally, 2 hours of storms this morning, ok they're elevated but can't complain after being baked alive in 34 degs every day during this heat wave with no respite. Plenty of thunder and monsoon rain. Sun trying to come out again now.

Thunder and lightning here, but out of a sleight grey sky which is quite bizarre.

Surprising what difference 30 miles can do, not sunny here still, bright at best.

And just think, as Soon as it's out, all that water is going to evaporate and 'recharge' the sky for a possible round 2

The Vis Satellite image on the radar page is amazing, you can see how the Pennines essentially 'protected' the area north of you (Stafford & northwards) from the crud! Unfortunately it also protects us from the Snowstorms that mostly come in from the East too

Just now, Dan the Man said:

Storm becoming more pronounced over the last 10-15m here in Mid Beds. Still not more than a 4/10 at the moment.

A good sign considering its 10am

With some diurnal heating, im sure it will be insane later.

After not having much luck and being slightly disappointed by forecasts took the boys too the boating lake too play on their RC boats when the app started going off and saw this big old storm going through Cambs/Beds, deciding too retire too back home where it’s getting eerily dark and some distant rumbles too my s/e, fingers crossed!

I would drive out as I've got the day off, but there's very little cloud structure to see in these storms and the rainfall is torrential, so not really worth it.

Opposite interest with thunderstorms, I really want one to make my day and first one of this weeks risks, however you don't want one as it ruin your day, hopefully in an ideal situation it hits me full on and by passes you.

Morning! Well, we got a little rain last night here in the Reigate Local High Pressure Zone. Pleased to see Estofex and Nick Finnis' take on today. Perhaps (at long last) it will be our turn!

I would be worried about large hail and our greenhouse; except our adult daughter accidentally ripped the door off it and smashed it (enthusiastic tomato plant watering). So if the rest gets smashed it will sum up this week.

Kitten also running around at 100mph.
