I have a feeling this year the storms may be dodging me. Working in horsham today, there was nothing but sunshine and clouds building, to unleash its wrath a tad north. Whilst at home in East hampshire, a huge storm was erupting for the missus to enjoy, but not record for me. Get home and miss it by 30 minutes. Was interesting to see the temperature go from 36c in horsham to 22c, 35 miles down the road. Fingers crossed for something to pop up out of the blue in the near future. At least the cooler weather allows me to get back on the bank and get fishing again.

Seems like there is some lightning in Bristol. Might come my way?

And now after disturbing me mid icecream and my phone going wild it just feels odd.. sky sure is pretty though.

I've just come from south Manchester where it's gone from zero wind to a continuous stiff, warm breeze in the last hour - impressive updraft on the Cheshire cell!

No wonder it's so severe in Wales and the SW Midlands. This is a snapshot of surface winds over the UK

Look at all those various wind directions. Northerlies over Wales, Southerlies over SW England and easterlies over the rest of England. Also there appears to be an independent rotational feature showing up too, maybe due to supercell action.

Amazing. I think that nice Easterly all the way from Denmark is coming into my lounge at the moment! So much nicer.

Mad cloud formations ya know. Phone doesn’t do it justice. Experts do you reckon these showers will actually turn into storms.

Greatly enjoyed the Chilterns storm.  First one for years that turned left and went west along the Chilterns. !630- 1720 almost continuous thunder lot of CG strikes torrential rain but no hail.  Delightful cold breeze blowing outwards. Temp fell 11C.  Best storm here for years.

Many more strikes appearing on the French coast, the question is whether the sferics can make it across. There are some in the mid channel but not too many just yet. Hopefully the nighttime cooling can assist the storm.

And I'm just sat here in Norwich with a sweltering evening.

Though I could see the top of the midlands cell earlier, it's shadow was cast across all of East Anglia.

Even though I haven't had so much as a distant rumble here, I've been impressed by the sheer size of the storms going on at the moment, I don't remember seeing such big and long-lasting ones, just too bad they're all on the wrong side of the country for me.
