Thunder heard, rather surprised as the shower overhead looks rather weak on radar

Exactly what I was thinking...the next return will probably show the true story...

Hearing constant deep rumbling from the London storm now. So close

Massive hail in Twickenham just down the road from Heathrow, looks like the planes will be taking off straight into a hail core.....

Unlikely unless they fancy expensive repairs!

Last night at LTN they switched the runways around because of this landing into a tailwind, but wind is too strong for that at the moment.

The updrafts are very, very strong. It's just such a shame there's virtually no shear to ramp up any storms and keep them going for longer.

Nick, you must have read my mind, was just about to ask our resident experts what the missing ingredient is to create long tracked, violent storms when we have such an abundance of CAPE

I'm not sure if this has already been said, but I think the world has made up for the lack of storms this year with a week of (so far) verifying thunderstorm warnings and even MCSs!

Fingers crossed it continues into next week...

More than I can hear - which is limited to a nearby police helicopter and an ice cream van

Saw that from behind after it passed over here and it was a large tower already

Some massive towers going up around me in every direction at the moment. Looks incredible.

Todays initiation is earlier, further South & further East than yesterday. Could be an interesting afternoon for the South Midlands and beyond!
