Must be an incredible light show if you're anywhere near those Stoke/Birmingham storms - looking west from near Lincoln I can see faint flickers in the sky, about 70 miles away as the crow flies!

Is there any chance these storms could reach me?

We were lying on the field just now watching meteors in Diss and could see faint flashes, no idea where our nearest storm is but clear here.

In Edinburgh and its been well over 2 hours of solid flashes every second and rumbles and intense rain. Never seen anything like it and no sign of coming to an end yet

Still seeing really bright flashes and deep booming thunder and just had a heavy downpour, a few more cells still to the south of us too. 2 hours this has been going on for now, 3 hours if we count the small first storm too.

This summer has hands down beaten anything in the last 10-15 years for storms. An incredible period in June and now this.

Amazing.

Agree. Same down here in Shrewsbury.

And we should get too greedy but tomorrow looks a decent bet too!!

the storm you are having now (And I can still clearly see flashes two hours after it started) and we had earlier was one of the best I have been in in the Uk and I’m 40 this year. A rare event to get something like that over us after a long storm starved period until more recently.

I'm at a vantage point and have been here for a good hour, an amazing light show, cell just coming to the west of town. Strobe lightning, orange crawlers  it's  fantastic , not felt any convective wind yet. There's an eerie stillness at the moment, lightning getting brighter and thunder more audible than rolling booms. Got a go I'm  missing it.

That last "rumble" was a classic bang here.
