Huge amounts of convection round here now. Huge cells popping off.

West London cell from here, grew in size very rapidly

I wonder if I’d be able to see lightning if it was slightly darker..?

Lots of loud booming thunder to my East from W London cell. Well a bit crap the storm shield is in place and I’ve seen storms to W and E tonight but better than nothing. At least us southerners are getting sumin!

Pitifull storms over uk, what does it take to get a good nightime display of lightning with torrential rain all night. I've seen it happen once must have been around 1992... And I was so young I paid little attentin to it

This is the Oxford cell taken from Westbury. First image at 20.06, second at 20.20 . Visible explosion borne out by the radar. And in 5 more minutes it has a spectacular anvil!

Hah I'm too young for that but I remember a few proper humdingers in the 90s when I was growing up. All night jobs! Used to be scared of it.
