31c here and it feels extremely humid, considerably more uncomfortable than the heat on Friday 31st July and more comparable to when it hit 35c last summer

im stupid,,, what does that mean? sorry i love the weather but flopped hard in geography

Surface based storms are more like the bigger more organised storms in the USA. Not as common here but usually pack a punch, and can produce tornadoes and large hail, though very unlikely here. That one near Birmingham last night was probably surfaced based for a while looking at it.

Feels here as if the humidity is sky rocketing. ARÔME simulation appears to suggest possible eruptions here this evening

the one in france has exploded in size and the front of the storm is forming a curve shape  i swear that means something with severe storms, like an echo idk

Might be a gust front or a shelf cloud that. Doesn't look like a supercell, just a big thunderstorm.

Nice day... for a walk here in Herne Bay too.

An import would be a nice way to end off the day but I have little hope of that storm from France doing anything.

Europe is truly rubbing it in our faces storm wise.

Latest Arome (12z) suggests only isolated development until later this evening when something a little more organised develops around the Birmingham area, moving north. Potentially some thunderstorms up into the NW of England again in the early hours before a more widespread outbreak across central, southern and then western areas later tomorrow afternoon.

All to be taken with a pinch of salt of course, given it's one model run.

Hi all

Although been an avid viewer of netweather for years have never had the courage to join the community conversation. However while enjoying the summer weather I am increasingly frustrated with the absence of Thunderstorms. Can someone more expert than me explain why when you currently look at the satelite of Europe it seems that there is a rash of storms over France and the low countries but precious few over uk (with exception of Scotland). If it is because of the cap then why isnt the cap over France as well. I thought that was where it was coming from. I live in herts and am really hoping for a humdinger soon, like when i was a kid. Sorry to natter on but this really bugs me. Thanks.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
