That cell near Redditch is getting going now. Let's see with this one then.

where is that can you screenshot it

It will probably come to nothing, especially for me as it's traveling in the wrong direction, but worth keeping an eye on

Last time I heard this sort of constant thunder in the distance was the "El Brummo" event from - I think - 2012.

Bish

Last time I heard constant thunder in the UK was 1992 (Dutch supercell 2015 doesn't count...)

What a disappointment and not even enough rain to water the garden properly .

1 Flash of lightning seen with one fairly decent clap of thunder .

Lets hope that new Redditch cell performs better .

Was looking forward to a few spots of water, totally dissipated.

You mean Simon and Garfunkel as in the Sound of Silence.

I'd say more Deirdre Barlow than Gary Barlow

Looks like that cell leaving the north coast of France is part of some sort of shortwave, very discreet, but you can tell if the run the radar back and forth.

Maybe a surprise for the southeast?

Steering winds take that into East Sussex

Is it really down to 5-6 strikes a minute? Or is lightning maps up the spout again?

Tbh the one heading towards the Lake District is more active than the one near Birmingham according to lightningmaps.

I can't believe how quickly that storm disintegrated above me. It went just as quick as it formed.

Not sure if it's been posted already as it's so busy in here but for those of us in the south this may be of interest

Wow now let’s pray for consistency on this and hope it actually happens. The southeast needs to go out with a bang, it’s been the melting pot for nearly a week

Stormy looking skies to the south of here. One flash of lightning earlier.

Keeping everything crossed! This will probably be our one and only chance for a decent storm this year.

If a popcorn storm is the best we can get with all of these parameters in place, then what a pathetic climate we live in. Total dud for 95% of the country today (and 50% of the storm warning zones) contrary to forecasts.

Soon be September.

I’ll tell you that looks reminiscent of 24th of July’s event last year but more intense in the east.
