Birmingham inbound storm just skirted Coventry. Looks to be mostly elevated but has some surface based towers towards the back of the storm. Plenty of lightning and rumbling but even the lower towers still have a bit of a high base.  Could be good for Photography as it slowly moves north and the light begins to go.

That eastern cell is a right mover btw. Going against the steering flow so definitely supercellular. Not surprised to hear of rotation within it.

For any fellow southerners still desperately hanging on in there, the cell on the N Coast of France also appears at this this same point in time on the 12z Arome. It expands it into a cluster of cells that gets into Sussex late in the evening. Arome isn't the best model but one day it'll be right surely?

Lightning detector has slowed down on the left hand cell...but I can still hear plenty of thunder.

Chunky Bois went up all around me a while ago, then had what feels like our tenth close pass this year. Closest strike to where I am in beds/bucks border was just over 0.5km.

Died down as it passed Leighton Buzzard but I wouldn't be surprised if it went off again further past MK.

Can’t work it out. It’s right over me, I can’t escape the rain and I can see patches of blue sky.

But there’s literally constant thunder and no visible lightning

Could it be the hail core noise????? I'm sure I remember reading/hearing something about Storms with exceptionally large hail cores producing the noise itself.

Found a vid of it

Tonne of rumbling now and getting closer, looks like something from a horror film , right under the anvil.

Currently at the Cat & Fiddle pub on the Western Edge of the Peak District, can't see much in the distance due to extreme haze, not sure whether to stay put or drop further SW
