Can also see the massive storm miles out west near Warwick, shame it’s not dark yet as this would be a lovely distant light show !!

This is the Midlands cell from the front.& back garden, looks pretty huge, pics don't really do justice.

Almost constant rumbling in the mid-distance right now, plus a bit of rain has started to fall. It looks like the cell is sliding to the east of here.

The temperature is still hovering above 28°C

Brum, Coventry and Milton Keynes going to get a pasting....They'll be an enormous MCS inside the next hour.

Isn't that what the Black&White gif of cloud development someone posted yesterday showed??? I think it's the same 'ignition' spot too.

Can see two lovely big cells south of me,they look beautiful

Now that is a propper storm! well isolated and not part of a messy cluster, lots of lightning and affecting a location for a good amount of time.

0-this in 30 minutes:

Flash Bang etc made the right call heading out.  I made the wrong call staying in.  But I'm holding out for the next few days for something a bit closer

Last time I heard this sort of constant thunder in the distance was the "El Brummo" event from - I think - 2012.

Good thing about August, you get a bigger window of darkness for some anvil crawler spotting and decent night shows, and also sprites.

Looks like it's going to slide just to my east, but I have an excellent view of that direction.
