Explosive updraft north of Oxford - nothing showing in radar but the cap broke  and its rapid.

Is this the main course for this evening?

Currently 30 here in East Sussex  and this is forming along the channel to my west, nice rainbow in there, don’t know if my phone captured it or not. Looks grey back there.

Nice and muggy again here.

Had terrific storm that tracked over Criccieth and  Porthmadog with super extra base thunder and CG's galore.

What do you reckon?

I'd say the ICON is the closest, followed by Aperge.

Aperge just has too much going on in the West Midlands and the stuff over Wales is too far south. Whilst ICON is showing the stuff over Anglesey curving towards Ireland and then back towards Scotland (which it's currently doing)

You are doing well in the north west!

Nothing for us in the SE. Anything importing from France is drying out, and where developments have tried, they swiftly fizzle out.

I have often mentioned my theory of the "Thames Valley high pressure zone" and (regardless of the accuracy of my theory) it seems to be well in force at the moment.

(My theory goes that the horseshoe of low hills surrounding London acts as a local weather influence).

Unless the pressure slips (it has moved one millibar down here) and the cap comes off, we're stuck.

Yep, utter tosh here as usual, not even a hot day to compensate. At least those in Kent aren't getting all the fun and joining in with the convective messiness that's heading their way.....
