Gloucestershire Airport at 28'c at 2pm. This is close to the region of lower-level convergence later needed to help initiate surface based convection.

Not a chance in hell here - only managing 22c

Being on the west Sussex coast, the AROME model is my bae at the moment.

Going to hope for a decent light show at least!

East Sussex coast here, and dying to see something for once this year

To be fair, its not really doing much and must be in an unhelpful environment now.....Annoying so not only do we suffer with a sea breeze taking 6-8C off the afternoon temps but we'll probably end the day under drizzle left over convective showers.

Getting up to 28/29C now, and that's despite the haze and milky moisture filled sky's.  Hopefully something will give SOON™

Just pictured the sky around me: first the view straight out to sea. Followed by west and then east, Haze sitting at the base of beachyhead.  Currently 32 feels like 34. Wind S 11km, humidity 50%

I’m near Stokenchurch. Headed as far as Gaydon / Warwick on the M40 and then waiting it out there probably. The severest zone is basically the M40 end-to-end so if you’re on that you’re pretty good

Where are you at pres? I've been sorting things out at home but may jump in the car in 30 mins or so. What are things looking like?

Can hear thunder to the SE from Wenlock, and there’s also very dark clouds in the shrewsbury direction.  Looks like it’s all about to kick off.  28 and very humid here.

Not sure we still need to hit 30-32'c for initiation to occur, I'm a little more confident of hitting it than earlier so I'm still going to head between Worcester & Stoke-on-Trent.

Further north would be ideal but I cba to travel further.

Fair play. Sounds like a good shout to me.

I'd happily take that sea breeze off your hands up here! The breeze here is 'hot' so all it's good for is ensuring I sit here trying to work while sweltering!

Lovely part of the world... lots of chances to get up on the hills and a better view... and 20 mins up to Shrewsbury and the A5 and speedy routes east west and north if on a chase.

Cheers

Yes quite glad it's clearing tbh as it has allowed the temperatures to shoot back up towards 27C or so.

Can see the tops of the Bewdley cell through sunglasses, to bright to see with the naked eye through the haze. Small towers starting to go up here now too.

You can see Ac Cas fields becoming evident on satellite just to the east of the weak precip in the Channel, would not be surprised to see showers form and move into the eastern IOW, Hants and west Sussex.
