seems to be some line of cloud developing around Cambridge, extending SW ,. is it nothing or the chance for some lucky few in the East ?

Those are accas. They do have some height to them but I’m not sure if they will spark something off

I know this isnt really relevant for us, at least today. But take a look at that explosive development in central france. Cloud tops are really hogh and looks like supercells. This seems to be the area of instability we will see move northwards tommorow and tuesday.

Anyone reckon that the Met Office will issue an amber warning closer to the time?

Euro 4 suggests that the first activity will be generated in the north west around midnight before becoming more widespread in the west tomorrow morning and spreading east in terms of risk as the day progresses.

Blitzortung.org provides lightning and thunderstorm information in real time on maps for USA, United Kingdom, Australia, new Zealand, Europa, Africa, Asia and other...

You need to be looking a bit west.

Essentially there is a weak front nearing southern Ireland which is interacting with the air over the south west/just off Biscay. This stuff will essentially progress a bit north and a bit east and start to enhance. On Tuesday we then get an upper weakness near north west Spain and the Bay of Biscay which starts to feed us with moisture.

Impossible to tell they are supercells from those radar or satellite images. Remember a supercell is defined as a thunderstorm with a deep rotating updraft. Unless you see an obvious hook on reflectivity (uk radar would be too distant to see this in France) or have Doppler Radar to detect the rotation

France has lit up according to lightening detector

Only near Bourges and another 200km south. Wouldn't say France has lit up as such.

And those in Biscay, of the coast of Brest and L'Orient, there is activity there, not all maps I use showing the same but all showing something. Being picked up on 4 detectors/maps I use.
