Will change my original guess of 16.7°C to 17.3°C and will bump EWP down to 56.9mm thanks

I think it could be a nice month - let's say 17.8 and 41mm.

Although the fact that my thermometer is nudging 36 this afternoon might be biasing my view upwards a bit

17.2 degrees, above average with a possibly preety warm first half, cancelled out somewhat by nearer average conditions second half. Not expecting lengthy sustained spells if dry warm weather, perhaps a couple of bursts as we see plume scenarios and trough held further to the west, but expecting Atlantic to have too much power in it and quick breakdowns from the west, just as is happening this evening.

Probably a decent enough August overall to rescue what in the main so far has been a preety poor or at least just average summer for many. On balance the SE may end up rating it not a bad one, those in the NW a poor one.
