Welcome old friend Autumn, may your stay be full of misty cool fresh mornings filled with that marvellous light that is the hallmark of such a fantastic season. Can't wait for that first front door opening and feeling that gloriously invigorating clean air..perfection.

I wouldn't mind this - but chances are it'll be wet and windy most of the time.

I don't expect to see a 15c high until late September/October. The average high doesn't fall to 15.0c until 22 October.

For here:

2019: 2 Oct

2018: 22 Sep

2017: 30 Aug !!!

2016: 10 Oct

2015: 21 Sep

2014: 6 Oct

2013: 14 Sep

2012: 23 Sep

2011: 8 Oct

2010: 24 Sep

this area crap! have had less than 15 max in Jun to Aug before, especially remember 20th July 07, was around 13 max, and even worse Sat 21st, full washout around 11 degrees max

Wow it’s cold this morning in East Sussex coast I’m certainly not going by apps with min not below 10C. At home in Rotherhithe it fell to 7.3C this is notable for very start of September, it wasn’t expected to be colder than yesterday. Heathrow fell to 6.6C it may be coldest low for the date scanning through but can’t confirm.

A perfect Fall day here. Blue skies, light breeze, warm in the sun. Love it ☀️ especially after only reaching 15oC on the 28th!

The default pattern, fingers crossed not too much of it this year with plenty of other weather types

A lovely start to September. Making the most of it before the change tomorrow.

Less wind and rain would be welcome. I’ll happily take a cold dry and sunny autumn and winter, with the occasional few damp days. Like 2010/11, or even 2009/10, with longer cold sunny spells. Even cold and cloudy is welcome. Mild and wet is the worst kind.

2009/10 would be perfect, with a much less wet November. Nearly had 300mm of rain... here!

It is a date record. The previous was 8.3c in 1956.

It's indeed a lovely start to Autumn, sunny with a chill to the air.

November 2019 was relatively chilly for London but then pretty much the entire winter was average or above average. So perhaps we need to suffer through a wet and windy autumn to get some cold + snow this year..

13.3C here at 2pm. That's pretty remarkable for this location at this time of year.

There's been about an inch of rain since yesterday evening, but not a patch on September 2018 which saw 58.2mm on the first day and nearly 130mm in first four days (there was only about 9mm in the rest of the month though).

First day of autumn and it definitely feels autumnal here in Prague with overcast skies, gusty NW’ly winds and a lunchtime temperature of 14°C

So it's the first day of autumn and yet it feels more like summer than the last few days did. Was a hint of autumn earlier though with the lowest temperature here since early June last night.

Got down to 6.6'c here last night.

Bablake got a 2.1'c and a grass frost...... a wonderful way to start Autumn!

I'm really happy how Summer was this year too, it seemed to last forever, and started just when we needed it to, in late March.

We've had a few grim spell in late Summer, but on the whole, it's been rather better than average in my opinion due to how long it seemed to go on

A nice few autumn storms would be nice, not the rain fest of last year but enough to strip the leaves earlier than normal please?

Looking very good for September, no crap "Indian Summer" anywhere on the cards, something like a proper start to Autumn at last
